Full description

Akira Technologies is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to support the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Development (OUSD-R&D) on advanced defense technology and mission initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in solutions architecture, systems engineering, or systems integration, with significant experience in C4ISR/CS4ISR, sensor systems, and onboard computing. The role will translate hardware architectures into deployable solutions while balancing size, weight, power (SWaP), data, platform, and compliance requirements.

This is a hybrid role requiring up to three (3) days a week in Washington, DC and travel of up to 25% including Hawaii and Colorado, among others. This supports a government client and thus, active Top Secret clearance is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Translate navigational sensor hardware architectures into integrated, deployable configurations.
  • Manage the sensor stack and onboard computing resources, including system interfaces and integration.
  • Develop and manage data-transfer architecture and planning, working closely with the Data Engineer responsible for implementation.
  • Ensure solutions meet applicable technical, cybersecurity, platform, and operational requirements.
  • Support integration across aviation platforms, ground vehicles, and handheld devices.
  • Identify technical risks, resolve integration challenges, and coordinate with engineering and government stakeholders.
  • Develop architecture documentation and support technical reviews, testing, and deployment.
  • Travel approximately 25%, including Hawaii and Colorado.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant architecture, systems engineering, or systems integration experience.
  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Strong C4ISR/CS4ISR experience.
  • Experience with sensor systems, onboard computing, embedded systems, or mission systems.
  • Experience designing solutions within SWaP constraints.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, requirements, and technical compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior defense military experience
  • Experience with defense aviation platform, manned or unmanned.
  • Experience supporting DoD research and development or other federal mission programs.
  • Experience with navigation systems, ISR, sensor fusion, edge computing, or tactical data systems.
  • IAT Level II certification or higher

Salary Range: $150,000 to $175,000
