Full description

As our Senior Business Insights Analyst, you will provide data and analytical support across HCF’s Private Health Insurance business, helping solve complex business problems and enabling informed decision-making. Working in a collaborative team of data scientists, data analysts and data visualisation specialists, you will use your technical expertise and commercial thinking to generate actionable insights, build valuable data products and support initiatives focused on value-based healthcare and attracting and retaining members.

What you will be doing?

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into high-quality data, analytics and insight solutions.
  • Analyse membership, claims, benefits, revenue, industry data and KPIs to identify trends and generate actionable insights.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to answer complex business questions and support better-informed decisions.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting and insights to support budgets, forecasts, premium submissions, performance metrics and ad hoc business requirements.
  • Maintain data assets through appropriate testing and issue resolution, ensuring strong data quality, integrity and accuracy.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, continuous improvement and greater process efficiency, while helping reduce technical debt and inefficiencies.
  • Contribute to analytics projects, testing and business initiatives, delivering agreed outcomes within established time and budget requirements.
  • Communicate insights and progress clearly to stakeholders and help strengthen data literacy, coaching and knowledge sharing across the business and team. 

About you You’re an experienced analyst who enjoys turning complex data into meaningful business insights. You can see the bigger picture, break complex problems into practical solutions and communicate your findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. 

You will bring

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise business insights.
  • Strong querying and programming capability within business analytics.
  • Strong SAS platform and programming skills, including Data Step, Macro, Job Flows, CAS, data transformation and exploration. 
  • Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse, Tableau, Excel and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and multidimensional analysis.
  • Strong reporting and data storytelling skills across visual and tabular formats.
  • Technical understanding of procedural languages and/or ETL.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business roles within Private Health Insurance, Life Insurance or an equivalent industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the drive to enhance the data and analytics lifecycle.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are preferred. 

Desirable skills

  • SAS Viya and SAS 9.4
  • SAS Visual Analytics
  • Data warehousing techniques and principles, including Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional Modelling
  • Cloud computing experience with AWS
