School Harbor is looking for an analyst who enjoys finding patterns, organizing messy data, and helping people understand what the numbers mean. You will contribute to real client projects while developing your technical skills through training, hands-on practice, and mentoring from senior teammates. You will start with reporting, analysis, and data cleaning, then build toward writing scripts and automating recurring work. You will receive guidance as you build confidence and grow into data engineering responsibilities.About School Harbor

School Harbor is an educational technology services company based in Phoenix, Arizona. We help K-12 schools, districts, and education technology companies build software and use their data. Our data team connects information from different systems, creates dashboards, and automates reporting.What you will work on

• Clean and organize data from school and education technology systems, including checking for missing information, duplicate records, and inconsistent formats.
• Combine information from different sources and check that the results make sense, with guidance on unfamiliar problems.
• Prepare recurring reports and update dashboards that help teams understand student outcomes, program participation, product usage, and engagement.
• Use basic SQL queries to find, combine, and summarize information in databases.
• Help answer questions from clients and teammates, explain your findings in plain language, and document how you prepared the data.

You will pair with senior team members to work through unfamiliar tasks, review your work, and learn how to investigate data problems. Mentoring and feedback will support your career development as you take on more responsibility.• Build confidence with SQL, dashboards, and repeatable data cleaning methods.

• Learn Python to reduce manual work, starting with small scripts and changes to existing workflows.
• Learn how data moves between systems and how the team checks that automated work is accurate and reliable.

The work involves messy data and unfamiliar systems, so learning quickly matters. We expect you to ask questions early, apply feedback, and use what you learn on the next task. Your responsibilities will expand as you demonstrate readiness.What you will bring

• A foundation in analysis and data cleaning, demonstrated through work, coursework, internships, or personal projects.
• Basic SQL skills, including finding records, combining tables, and summarizing results.
• Experience creating a useful report, chart, or dashboard and explaining what it shows.
• Attention to detail, clear communication, and willingness to investigate why numbers do not match.
• Curiosity about technical work and the ability to learn new tools with guidance.

Prior Python experience is helpful but not required. Experience with Power BI, Plotly, or education data is also welcome. No specific degree is required. AI tools can support your work; you should be able to explain your approach and check the accuracy of the results.Work arrangement and hiring

This is a remote, 40-hour-per-week contract role for candidates working in the United States. Candidates have the opportunity to choose between W2 or 1099 employment. Candidates must be permanently authorized to work in the United States as a 1099 contractor. Short-term work outside the United States is generally allowed in most countries, subject to client, legal, tax, and security considerations. We are filling one opening and considering candidates at either the junior or senior level. The scope, support, and compensation will reflect the level at which we hire.
