The Reference Data Services Analyst 2 is a developing professional role. Applies specialty area knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analyzing and/or evaluating processes and data. Identifies policy gaps and formulates policies. Interprets data and makes recommendations. Researches and interprets factual information. Identifies inconsistencies in data or results, defines business issues and formulates recommendations on policies, procedures or practices. Integrates established disciplinary knowledge within own specialty area with basic understanding of related industry practices. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Develops working knowledge of industry practices and standards. Limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided. Impact of the job holder is restricted to own team.
The Documentation Operations Unit is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Operations Analyst. This position acts as a critical control function, ensuring the operational and data integrity of bilateral trading agreements that support global market transactions.
The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end processing, validation, and archiving of complex legal agreements, including derivatives and securities financing contracts. This role requires close collaboration with internal legal counsel, credit risk departments, and middle-office teams to mitigate operational risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and verify bilateral trading documentation, including International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) Master Agreements, Securities Financing Transactions (SFT) Agreements (MRA, GMRA, MSLA, MSFTA), and Futures Agreements, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and negotiated terms.
- Execute high-precision data entry and validation within proprietary contract management systems, maintaining absolute accuracy of key legal metadata and operational terms.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve documentation discrepancies and system exceptions. Conduct root-cause analyses to identify systemic data issues and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as a primary operational point of contact for internal Legal, Credit Risk, and Middle Office teams to facilitate the seamless execution and onboarding of trading agreements.
- Oversee the secure digitization, indexing, and archiving of executed legal agreements, ensuring compliance with internal records management policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Participate in departmental initiatives aimed at automating workflows, enhancing system capabilities, and strengthening operational control frameworks.
- Acts as backup for manager
- Provides direction and guidance to team, making recommendations and identifying training requirements.
- Responsible for the successful management and delivery of project initiatives and for the supervision of junior staff to ensure delivery of their tasks which contribute to the projects.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in financial reference data management, counterparty static data control, or a high-precision data quality environment within a global financial institution
- Demonstrated ability to maintain exemplary data accuracy and attention to detail under tight operational deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex documentation and translate structured terms into database parameters
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface professionally with internal legal counsel, credit risk officers, and/or institutional stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the capacity to master complex, proprietary database architectures and web-based platforms.
- Proven ability to work independently under limited supervision, prioritize competing deliverables, and adapt to shifting operational priorities.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent professional experience.
