👨💻 About the Role
This is a data role based in Pakistan, sitting within our Commercial function and working as part of a data team that spans our PK and UK offices. You'll help build and maintain the data platform the wider business runs on: the pipelines that bring data in, the dbt models that turn it into trusted datasets, the warehouse those models sit on, and the reporting that reaches decision-makers.
Alongside the core platform work, you'll automate manual processes that currently eat into the team's time, and help build and maintain our internal AI tooling. You'll also play a part in moving the team towards best practice on version control, testing, documentation and data design.
You'll work most closely with our Data Analytics Manager and two data analysts in the UK, and cross-functionally with Finance and S&OP here in PK on their more technical requirements. It's a small, flat team, which means high ownership and high visibility from the start: you'll see the impact of your work quickly, and there's substantial room to grow as the function scales.
👋 About You
You have solid SQL fundamentals — joins, aggregations and window functions are familiar territory, and you can point to real queries and analysis you've written rather than just listing the language as a skill. You've had hands-on exposure to dbt or a similar transformation tool, you understand the basics of how a cloud data warehouse works, and you've used a BI tool to get insight in front of people.
You're a strong problem solver who breaks work down rather than getting stuck, and you're proactive — you spot the manual process that could be automated and raise it without being asked. You collaborate well, which matters when your closest teammates are in another country and your stakeholders sit across two offices. You're comfortable with ambiguity and you're a self-directed learner; a lot of what you need here can be picked up on the job if the aptitude and curiosity are there.
Experience with ELT and pipeline tools, Redshift, data modelling, or Python for automation would be an advantage, but we're just as interested in people with the fundamentals and the appetite to grow into the rest.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain data connectors, including onboarding new sources and retiring deprecated ones
- Keep the ERP sync and its authentication running reliably and efficiently
- Maintain and optimise warehouse performance, using effective data modelling and materialisation strategies to keep queries fast
- Develop and maintain dbt models that feed trusted datasets into Power BI
- Automate manual data processes to cut operational overhead
- Build, audit and maintain internal AI tooling
- Support the team's move to best practice — version control, testing, documentation, metadata and data design
- Work with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Support Finance and S&OP in Pakistan on their more complex technical and reporting needs
✔️How will success be measured?
- Pipelines and the ERP sync run reliably, with issues caught and fixed before stakeholders notice them
- dbt models are documented, tested and trusted enough that teams treat the datasets they feed as the source of truth
- Warehouse query performance holds up or improves as data volumes grow
- Manual processes are measurably reduced, with time given back to the team
- Work is version-controlled and documented as standard, rather than as an afterthought
- Business requirements are translated into solutions that stakeholders actually adopt and use
- Technical debt in your areas of ownership is visibly reduced over time
- By the end of year one, you own a meaningful part of the platform independently and have delivered at least one improvement that came from your own initiative
