Lead Product Manager – Telecommunications & Digital Twin

Location: Remote (U.S.) with International Travel Employment Type: 1099 Consultant with potential conversion to Full-Time upon contract award Travel: International travel to South Africa required

Position Overview

Sumaria Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Product Manager to support a major telecommunications and Enterprise Digital Twin modernization program. This individual will serve as the primary bridge between the customer, program leadership, and technical teams to ensure customer needs are clearly understood, prioritized, documented, and translated into delivered capabilities.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge, customer engagement skills, and requirements management experience to ensure the solution meets customer expectations while controlling scope, cost, schedule, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead customer engagement to identify operational needs, use cases, priorities, and desired capabilities.
  • Translate customer needs into clear, actionable, traceable, and testable system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the System Requirements Specification (SYRS).
  • Prioritize requirements as Must Have, Like-to-Have, and WOW capabilities.
  • Maintain traceability between customer requirements and delivered system capabilities.
  • Identify and control customer and developer scope creep.
  • Evaluate new requirements for cost, schedule, performance, and contractual impacts.
  • Coordinate requirements across program management, engineering, cloud, cybersecurity, software, and V&V teams.
  • Ensure Verification & Validation activities align with approved requirements.
  • Support customer briefings, technical reviews, program planning, and future Digital Twin expansion.
  • Participate in customer meetings and program activities in South Africa as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, or related technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex customer needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience with requirements management, traceability, scope control, and system development.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to work effectively with engineering and technology teams.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication, facilitation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work with geographically dispersed and international teams.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Telecommunications industry experience.
  • Experience with Digital Twin, Digital Engineering, or enterprise modernization programs.
  • Experience with telecommunications networks or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering, MBSE, Agile, or V&V methodologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, data integration, or enterprise architecture.
