About the Role

The Senior Data Engineer is a key role within the Customer Remediation team that focuses on making things right when multiple customers are impacted by systemic issues such as errors in pricing, disclosure, or compliance. You will perform a range of data wrangling and analytical activities to identify impacted customers, understand the degree of impact, and calculate the required remediation.

Accountable for supporting execution of customer resolution projects in a timely manner for the benefit of our customers. Apply technical SAS / SQL skills and knowledge of banking products and services as part of a dedicated Agile team tasked with end-to-end resolution of issues. Work with subject matter experts to assess problems and propose potential resolution approach. This includes identification of impacted customers, customer benefit application, assessment of revenue and cost impacts, documentation of methodologies and assumptions, and the development & implementation of appropriate

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Provide full transparency of status throughout delivery

  • Ensure that quality control and data governance processes are followed
  • Provide accurate estimates of the end-to-end resource required for developing or maintaining code

People:

  • Participate as a team member positively around team culture and growth
  • Provide guidance and support to peers through code reviews, and technical leadership

Risk/Compliance/Behaviours

  • Alignment and adherence with ANZ Group IT strategy, governance policies, processes and standards and with external regulatory requirements

What will you bring?

  • Minimum 4 years of SAS SQL coding (development and analysis skills). Exposure to Python is highly beneficial.
  • Good attention to detail, ability to execute analysis accurately
  • Problem-solving and analytical mind-set, with a strong attention to detail
  • Broad knowledge of Financial Service products and processes
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to collaborate with people at different levels
  • Able to produce high quality, high output work.
  • Work with project stakeholders and developers, applying an understanding of organisational context to analyse and synthesise information, and to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Solid understanding of data development lifecycles, disciplines and procedures.
  • Can appreciate difficult problems and work autonomously on tasks with a medium complexity, can work collaboratively as part of a team and clearly articulate & present consolidated findings.
