This is a remote, flexible opportunity for an experienced financial-crime professional to apply real-world AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud, and transaction-monitoring expertise to AI evaluation work. You will work with realistic, self-contained mock cases designed to reflect the types of analysis performed in regulated financial environments. Your work will help assess whether AI-generated outputs demonstrate accurate reasoning, sound judgment, and appropriate documentation standards. The role covers transaction-monitoring alerts, customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, sanctions screening, fraud, and communications surveillance. This engagement offers experienced practitioners the opportunity to contribute specialized expertise to the development of more capable and reliable AI systems.

Accountabilities

  • Adjudicate transaction-monitoring alerts using mock alert packets, KYC/CDD profiles, and transaction histories; document dispositions and draft SAR narratives when appropriate.
  • Review client onboarding and KYC documentation for completeness, inconsistencies, and cross-document discrepancies, producing clear remediation lists.
  • Analyze complex beneficial-ownership structures and apply relevant 10%/25% UBO thresholds when determining ownership and control.
  • Evaluate sanctions and adverse-media screening results, determining whether hits represent true matches, false positives, or cases requiring escalation, with concise supporting rationales.
  • Triage supervisory alert queues, assess card-fraud and dispute cases, and evaluate potentially problematic communications against relevant transaction records.
  • Review AI-generated financial-crime and compliance outputs against domain-specific standards for accuracy, regulatory reasoning, evidential support, and professional judgment.
  • Provide structured written feedback that identifies weaknesses and helps improve the quality, consistency, and reliability of AI-generated analyst work products.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience in AML, financial crime, KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, fraud/disputes, transaction surveillance, or a related function within banking, fintech, payments, or money-services businesses.
  • Working knowledge of relevant FinCEN, FATF, and OFAC frameworks, as well as SAR and CDD documentation standards.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex cases and produce clear, concise, and defensible written rationales.
  • Practical understanding of financial-crime investigation, customer-risk assessment, transaction analysis, and escalation processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to apply structured evaluation criteria consistently.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to communicate analytical conclusions clearly.
  • Experience with enhanced due diligence, entity ownership analysis, transaction analytics, SQL, fintech/payments environments, or related areas is advantageous.
  • CAMS/ACAMS, CFE, or another relevant professional certification is a plus.
  • Applicants should be comfortable completing a timed practical assessment involving mock alerts, SAR drafting, KYC discrepancy analysis, remediation recommendations, and sanctions-hit adjudication.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $75–$100 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote and available to US-based professionals.
  • Schedule: Flexible, with an expected engagement of approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Contract type: Independent contractor engagement.
  • Payment: Weekly payments through Stripe or Wise based on services completed.
  • Project flexibility: Assignments may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project requirements and performance.
  • Privacy: Work is based on self-contained mock files and does not require access to confidential or proprietary employer, client, or institutional information.
  • Professional impact: Opportunity to apply specialized financial-crime expertise to research focused on improving the quality and reliability of AI systems.
  • Eligibility: H-1B and STEM OPT sponsorship/support is not available for this engagement.
