Position Summary
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Cisco Collaboration and Unified technologies and serve as a senior technical leader within the Connectivity organization. This individual will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, support, and strategic evolution of the enterprise voice and collaboration environment, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Cisco Unity Connection, SIP-based communications platforms, and related third-party technologies.
This position requires a highly collaborative professional who can effectively partner with Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud, Application Development, Operations Technology (OT), and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure communication services across the enterprise. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and strategic recommendations that align communication platforms with business objectives and enterprise standards.
As a senior member of the engineering team, this individual will participate in architectural reviews, technology evaluations, modernization initiatives, and long-term roadmap planning. Responsibilities include developing technical designs, performing assessments, driving remediation and standardization efforts, creating and maintaining technical documentation, and leading cross-functional discussions to visualize and communicate complex concepts. The candidate must be capable of making sound technical decisions, influencing outcomes across multiple teams, and mentoring engineers through knowledge sharing and leadership.
The successful candidate will operate with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative and ownership, maintain a customer-focused mindset, and possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This role requires the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical execution while ensuring the stability, resilience, and continuous improvement of the enterprise collaboration environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy complex (VoIP) network configurations for on-premise or cloud-based networks and assists in the development of playbooks for network systems (Cloud Computing).
- Assists in the integration of new systems and tools. Develops and maintains scripts to facilitate network administrative tasks and automate repetitive processes.
- Architect and engineer enterprise VoIP and Unified Communication solutions (e.g. Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Voice Gateway. Design complex dial plans, partitions, Calling Search Spaces (CSS), translation patterns and route patterns.
- Serve as a primary escalation point for complex voice network issues. Analyze packet captures and SIP signaling to resolve jitter, latency, and call routing failures. Analyze performance on the network for non-VoIP related traffic as required. (Troubleshooting, Results Driven, Network Management System)
- Monitors performance identifies areas for improvement for the (VoIP) network and implements performance tuning.
- Identifies trends in issues and determines the root cause to reduce future issues.
- Adheres to network policies, standards, and standard operating procedures for how-to documents.
- Undertakes the regular analysis and interpretation of traffic and utilization of services on (VoIP) network connections.
- Engage in discussions and participate in development of Private SaaS, Edge Computing and other advanced cloud capabilities (Cloud Computing, Network Installation and Configuration, Network Transformation).
- Adheres to network policies, standards, and standard operating procedures for how-to documents.
- Analyzes alternative hardware, platforms, and technologies for the network infrastructure (Network Transformation, Network Testing, Network Traffic Analysis).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology preferred, related field or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience required.
- Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Experience in leading site surveys, capacity planning, end user requirement analysis, and the physical/logical deployment of VoIP hardware and software preferred.
- Experience in migrating legacy TDM/PBX systems to modern VoIP architecture preferred.
- Experience with planning and execution of major system upgrades, patches, firmware updates, and database replication health checks across the publisher and subscriber nodes preferred.
- Experience with enterprise scale data centers, network topologies and architectures preferred.
- Experience with RTP and Media Concepts, SDP and Codecs (G.711, G.729, Opus, DTMF), Secure Signaling (TLS/mTLS, SRTP) preferred.
- Deep understanding of Routing Concepts, Switching Concepts, Quality of Service, Traffic Engineering, Filtering and Tuning (Network Traffic Analysis, Network Testing, Network Protocols) is highly preferred.
- Exposure to automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Python Scripting) preferred.
- Experience with packet capture tools (Wireshark) and call analysis platforms preferred.

This includes implementing and configuring servers, network devices, and network management tools, as well as managing user network access to ensure stable and reliable network operations.

- Network Security Management - The process of providing complete visibility into the network and generating data for assets, including asset groupings and classifications, firewalls, applications, ports, protocols, VPNs, NAT, security policies, and vendor devices.
