Company Description

Informa is a leading academic publishing, business intelligence, knowledge, and events business, creating unique content and connectivity for customers all over the world. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 100.

Taylor & Francis is one of the world’s largest publishers of high-quality, peer reviewed scholarly journals, books, e-books and reference works. We empower learners, thinkers and doers with trusted knowledge that advances research and enriches lives. We bring together diverse people, ideas and opinions to validate and publish the experts, theories and truths that matter. And we’ve been doing this in an unbroken arc since 1798.

Our purpose is to foster human progress through knowledge.  We strongly believe that this requires us to encourage and examine different ideas and voices, so that any work that meets our exacting levels of quality deserves to be included in our publications. This requires open minds, the opportunity for robust debate, and the courage to defend perspectives that stand up to scrutiny, even if they conflict with our personal beliefs or values. Because that’s the only way to find the best obtainable version of the truth and, ultimately, foster human progress. If you agree, then we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

As a Senior Product Manager for Customer Value and Product Development at Taylor & Francis, you'll partner with key stakeholders to identify, shape, and deliver valuable product opportunities across the full customer journey. Operating with significant autonomy, you'll work closely with UX Design, UX Research, and Data & Intelligence to drive new value into the market, not as a backlog owner, but as a creative and commercial force. You're a product purist who lives modern principles, stays ahead of technology shifts, and thrives in managing the tension between innovation and execution. Reporting to the Head of Product, this is a high-performing Individual Contributor role where product mastery and expertise, not hierarchy, drive transformational impact.

Opportunity Discovery & Problem Definition

  • Identify and define new product opportunities grounded in deep, direct customer insight, going beyond what users say to understand what they need.
  • Synthesise signals from qualitative research, behavioural data, market trends, and commercial intelligence to build a compelling case for where T&F should play next.
  • Define problems worth solving with precision and rigour and be prepared to kill an idea when the evidence demands it.
  • Proactively challenge the boundaries of the existing product experience to find opportunities the market has overlooked.

Product Creation & Validation

  • Manage the success of several products inside our domain model across sections of the customer journey.
  • Lead the design and validation of new product concepts, from early hypothesis through iterative experimentation to confident investment decisions.
  • Build lightweight, testable solutions that generate real learning quickly, prioritising speed of insight over completeness of build.
  • Own the commercial framing of new initiatives: define the value proposition, the target customer, the success criteria, and the business case.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Design, Data, Engineering, and Commercial to move new ideas from concept to launch with clarity and momentum.

Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain an active and ongoing relationship with customers, conducting your own research, running your own interviews, and treating first-hand insight as a non-negotiable input.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of T&Fs competitive landscape and adjacent markets to identify whitespace and emerging customer expectations.
  • Bring the outside in sharing market intelligence, customer stories, and emerging trends with the wider product and leadership team.
  • You will have a customer and data driven mindset to drive all your product decisions, eradicating emotion and opinion-based thinking.

Commercial Impact & Senior Influence

  • Own the outcome, not just the output, defining and tracking the metrics that demonstrate real customer and commercial value.
  • Make investment cases for new initiatives that connect product opportunity to business impact and communicate them clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Influence and manage product direction beyond your immediate area contributing to broader strategy conversations and raising the quality of thinking across the team.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in product management with a demonstrable focus on new product creation, and portfolio management. You have taken something from a poorly defined problem to meaningful user adoption and through the product lifecycle.
  • A portfolio of work that shows original thinking, not just efficient execution of pre-defined roadmaps.
  • Deep, genuine customer empathy, built through direct, regular contact with users, not mediated entirely through research reports.
  • Sharp commercial instincts, you think about value, not just features, and you understand how product decisions connect to business outcomes.
  • A collaborative working style, you know that the best product thinking happens at the intersection of design, data, and customer insight, not in isolation.
  • Excellent communication skills, you can build conviction around an idea with a leadership team and translate that same idea into something actionable for a delivery team.
