Job Summary
The Database Administrator III provides advanced administration, maintenance, and support for Bi-State Development’s on-prem Oracle E-Business ERP system and the Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments for new and existing information technology systems. This role works closely with application teams and other information technology staff to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient application and database operations support.
Job Responsibilities
- Implements and maintains on-prem Oracle EBS application environments, Oracle and MS SQL Server database environments.
- Provides technical assistance in identifying and developing solutions for larger systems
- Creates and/or modifies complex database and configuration scripts, EBS customizations (personalizations, extensions, workflow customizations)
- Investigates and resolves complex database, application and integration issues
- Maintains responsibility for complex configuration and administration of the database environment
- Maintains responsibility for complex EBS environment cloning, refreshes, and upgrades
- Assists with the migration of the current enterprise environment (database and EBS) to new environments/versions
- Defines, communicates and enforces database, EBS configuration and security standards
- Analyses, resolves and tests defects or improvements in the environment
- Manages delivery of projects in partnership with business stakeholders, by demonstrating a deep understanding of the business needs and how technical analysis can produce solutions
- Works to implement customized solutions to support customer requirements
- Coaches less experienced co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills, and knowledge
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detailed knowledge of Oracle database administration (including RAC and ASM), including definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and security. MS SQL Server experience is optional.
- Detailed knowledge of Oracle EBS architecture, including definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and security. Weblogic experience is required.
- Detailed knowledge of the Oracle EBS technology stack administration and patching/cloning tools (AD utilities, AutoConfig, Rapid Clone)
- Detailed knowledge of backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, DataGuard)
- Detailed knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning (AWR)
- Detailed knowledge of EBS performance monitoring and tuning
- Detailed knowledge of writing database queries and scripting languages (SQL, PL/SQL, Linux scripting – bash)
- Working knowledge of other areas of IT, such as Cyber Security, Network, Firewalls, Load Balancers, web configurations
- Working knowledge of EBS applications (e.g., Financials, Supply Chain, HR)
- Working knowledge of other database management software (MS SQL Server)
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems (Linux, Windows)
- Working knowledge of client-server application(s) and how it relates to the database integration and implementation of those applications
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting with extensive use of computers and enterprise database systems.
- As needed and as part of the team, provides after-hours on-call support and responds to issues and server alerts on a 24/7 basis.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements for keyboarding, data entry, and operating standard office equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, database reports, and on-screen system information.
- Ability to lift and carry light computer equipment, supplies, or materials as needed.
- Ability to perform occasional bending, reaching, or walking within office or data center
environments.
