Summary
As a Business Analyst - Financials (Healthcare) at Gainwell you will support Gainwell’s Medicaid financial operations by analyzing business requirements, documenting functional designs, and enabling process improvements across financial systems and workflows. The role requires experience in healthcare financial domains, including Accounts Receivable, expenditures, and transaction processing (835/834/capitation).
You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and ensure alignment with Gainwell delivery standards and regulatory expectations.
This role is strictly involved in business analysis, requirements gathering, and financial process support activities and does not involve direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), or any secured or confidential client data. The work is limited to financial data analysis, business process documentation, and requirements management using approved and governed datasets and does not include handling or processing of sensitive health or personal information.
Your role in our mission
Having 4–8 years of experience, this position will be responsible for supporting financial business analysis activities across healthcare programs.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to financial processes, including Accounts Receivable, expenditures, and healthcare transaction flows (835, 834, capitation).
- Conduct research and analysis to understand business needs and translate them into detailed functional and design documentation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to elicit, validate, and prioritize requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Translating business needs into actionable objectives for technical teams and delivery stakeholders.
- Support business process re‑engineering efforts, identifying opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
- Develop and maintain requirement artifacts, including business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and process flows.
- Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and ALM tools for analysis, tracking, and documentation.
- Support testing activities, including validation of requirements and assistance with defect triage.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide clear communication and updates to both business and technical audiences.
- Ensure alignment of deliverables with Gainwell quality and documentation standards.
What we're looking for
Required Skills:
- 4–8 years of experience in a Business Analyst role.
- Minimum 1+ year experience in Medicaid financial domain.
- Strong knowledge of financial processes, including - Accounts Receivable , Expenditure,Healthcare transactions (835, 834, capitation)
- Experience in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of SQL for data analysis.
- Experience using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools or similar requirement‑tracking tools.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to perform data‑driven analysis.
- Experience in business process analysis and reengineering.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to interact with business users, technical teams, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed enterprise environment.
- Experience working in Medicaid programs or state healthcare systems.
- Familiarity with healthcare financial systems and revenue cycle processes.
- Experience with data reporting or data quality validation.
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies.
