Requirements

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or IT discipline and 3 to 5 years of software development experience, including 1 to 2 years in an architectural or lead role. Proficiency in cloud-native development, system integration, and modern programming languages like Python or TypeScript is required.

Full description

Schneider Electric Singapore is building a regional Centre of Excellence for Digital Twin and Artificial Intelligence, and we are looking for a Software Architect who is equally comfortable designing an architecture and writing the code that proves it works.

This role sits at the meeting point of software architecture, hands-on full stack development and operational technology (OT) — the building, energy and security systems that keep facilities running. You will take a portfolio of solutions that today operate in silos and architect them into a unified, interoperable environment in which data, insight and capability are shared across EcoStruxure Foresight Operation and the wider EcoStruxure suite.

Working alongside our AI and Digital Twin engineers, Schneider Electric’s global development organisation and our technology partners, you will define the reference system architecture — software, hardware and communication protocols — on which our proofs of concept, tenders and customer deployments are built, making full use of our existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure platforms. The ideal candidate pairs strong engineering and architecture fundamentals with genuine curiosity about how buildings, power systems and facility operations work, and is energised by building something new rather than maintaining what already exists.

What will you do:

Platform Architecture & Consolidation: Develop a deep working knowledge of Schneider Electric’s existing solution stack, then design and deliver the integration architecture that unifies today’s siloed applications into a single interoperable environment where data, insights and capabilities are shared across systems.

Foresight & Ecosystem Integration: Work with technology partners and Schneider Electric’s global development teams to integrate partner and third-party solutions into EcoStruxure Foresight Operation and the wider EcoStruxure suite through well-designed APIs, connectors, data models and interface specifications.

OT/IT Convergence: Acquire and apply working knowledge of facility management and security subsystems — Building Management System (BMS), Physical Security Information Management (PSIM), Video Management System (VMS), Lighting Management System (LMS), Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) — and of the open communication protocols that connect them (REST API, Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, MQTT, OPC UA), combining these with IT and ICT infrastructure so that the end-to-end solution works reliably.

Digital Twin & AI System Architecture: Define the optimal system architecture — compute, edge, network, data pipeline, storage and visualisation — together with the appropriate communication protocols, to deliver Digital Twin and AI solutions for both internal and external stakeholders.

Hands-on Full Stack Development: Build backend services, RESTful APIs, data integrations and front-end interfaces; move quickly from prototype to production; write clean, secure, maintainable and well-tested code; and lead code reviews and engineering best practice across the team.

Cloud & DevOps Delivery: Deliver research, development and innovation work on our existing AWS and Microsoft Azure subscriptions wherever practical, applying containerised deployment (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and observability to keep solutions repeatable and reliable.

Innovation & R&D: Run innovation and R&D initiatives with the AI and Digital Twin team inside the Centre of Excellence; study, assess and design new ideas raised by industry partners, clients and internal stakeholders; and document reusable reference architectures and design patterns from each cycle.

Pre-Sales Solution Design: Design and document Digital Twin and AI system architectures for proofs of concept, tenders and sales opportunities, including solution architecture documents, integration designs, system diagrams and technical specifications, and present them to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Governance & Leadership: Act as design authority for architectural decisions; conduct architecture reviews, technical workshops and trade-off assessments; identify technical risks, dependencies and bottlenecks early; and mentor engineers and interns through knowledge sharing.

Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Compliance: Apply secure-by-design principles across all architectures, including authentication and authorisation (for example OAuth 2.0 and role-based access control), alignment with IEC 62443 industrial cybersecurity practice, and compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and Schneider Electric data governance and ethical AI policies.

What qualifications will make you successful:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (cloud architecture, solution architecture, cybersecurity) is an advantage.

Skills/ Systems knowledge

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of software development experience, of which at least 1 to 2 years in a software architect, solution architect or technical lead capacity.
  • Proven experience in architecture and system design — API design, integration patterns, microservices and event-driven architectures — delivering scalable, secure and maintainable solutions.
  • Strong hands-on full stack development: Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Solid database experience with relational platforms (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) and exposure to NoSQL, time-series or vector databases.
  • Cloud-native application development on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Microsoft Azure, including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps) and infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
  • Experience with system integration and messaging: REST APIs, MQTT, and streaming or message brokers such as Kafka, together with enterprise integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of — or a clear willingness and aptitude to learn — operational technology subsystems (BMS, EMS, PSIM, VMS, LMS, CMMS) and industry protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, OPC UA).
  • Practical exposure to AI and Generative AI integration, including Large Language Model (LLM) APIs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings and vector stores, AI agents, and the engineering practices that make them reliable (grounding, validation, guardrails, human-in-the-loop).
  • Exposure to Digital Twin and 3D visualisation technologies (OpenUSD, NVIDIA Omniverse, Unity or Unreal, IFC/BIM data) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of secure coding, application security, IEC 62443 industrial cybersecurity and PDPA data protection obligations.
  • Experience with EcoStruxure platforms — EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO), Power Monitoring Expert (PME), EcoStruxure Foresight Operation — or comparable BMS/EPMS platforms is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Resourceful and enterprising, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated to build a new capability from the ground up within a small, fast-moving Centre of Excellence team.

Travel requirement

  • Occasional — primarily Singapore-based, with occasional regional travel within East Asia for partner, project and Centre of Excellence activities.
