Java - Workday Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Java - Workday Developer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver enterprise-level Workday solutions while working in a fully remote environment.You will collaborate with clients and technical teams to transform business requirements into scalable integrations and extensions.The position combines software engineering expertise, cloud technologies, and Workday platform knowledge to solve complex business challenges.You will contribute throughout the full development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture decisions to implementation, testing, and deployment.The role provides the chance to work on impactful projects for leading organizations while influencing technical standards and best practices.As a key engineering contributor, you will also support team growth through mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

Accountabilities: The Java - Workday Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting Workday-based solutions while partnering with stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical outcomes.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and project teams to understand requirements, define solutions, and implement effective Workday enhancements.

• Design and develop Workday integrations, extensions, and technical solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, including business requirement documents, configuration documentation, process flows, and technical specifications.

• Own development activities end-to-end, including requirement analysis, solution design, coding, testing, deployment, and handoff.

• Make informed technical decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend solutions that balance business needs, scalability, and maintainability.

• Build and maintain development environments, CI configurations, and supporting infrastructure required for efficient delivery.

• Apply software engineering best practices across Java, TypeScript, Python, and related technologies.

• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve productivity, accelerate delivery, and support engineering workflows.

• Evaluate opportunities for AI and automation solutions while considering business value, risks, and technical suitability.

• Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and provide mentorship to junior developers.

• Engage directly with clients to gather feedback, manage changes, and provide technical guidance throughout projects.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong Workday implementation experience combined with solid software engineering skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and technical teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution.

• 5+ years of experience implementing Workday integrations and solutions.

• 6+ years of software development experience using Java, TypeScript, Python, or similar programming languages.

• Strong expertise in Workday HR modules and Workday ecosystem capabilities.

• Hands-on experience with Workday Studio (WD Studio) and Prism Analytics.

• Experience gathering requirements, designing solutions, and working directly with business stakeholders and clients.

• Strong understanding of software development principles, cloud technologies, and integration patterns.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions in a remote environment.

• Experience with Workday Extend, Enterprise Interface Builder, Finance modules, Salesforce, or PeopleSoft is considered an advantage.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and modern engineering workflows is a plus.
