Principal Engineer, Java Angular

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Engineer, Java Angular based in India.

This role is designed for a highly experienced full-stack engineer who will drive the design, development, and evolution of scalable enterprise applications. You will work across backend and frontend technologies, building robust solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular while contributing to architecture decisions and engineering excellence. The position requires strong technical leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for creating secure, high-quality software products. Accountabilities: The Principal Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of modern full-stack applications while ensuring technical excellence, security, and scalability. The role requires deep engineering expertise, architectural thinking, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• Build modern, responsive, and scalable frontend applications using Angular.

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, integrations, and service-based architectures.

• Design and implement secure, high-performance full-stack solutions following clean architecture principles.

• Apply object-oriented programming concepts, software design patterns, and engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

• Contribute to solution architecture, technical design decisions, system decomposition, and implementation strategies.

• Review and improve application architecture, code quality, maintainability, and engineering standards.

• Design and implement secure coding practices, including authentication, authorization, data protection, input validation, and OWASP principles.

• Develop and maintain automated testing strategies across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing levels.

• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines while supporting containerized and cloud-native deployment environments.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity in coding, testing, refactoring, and documentation activities.

• Conduct code reviews, debugging sessions, root cause analysis, and performance optimization initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA teams, Platform teams, and other stakeholders in Agile environments.

• Identify technical risks, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement across engineering processes.

• Mentor engineering teams and promote best practices in software development and delivery.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building enterprise-grade applications, strong technical leadership capabilities, and deep expertise across Java and Angular ecosystems. This role requires a combination of hands-on development skills, architectural knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

• 11+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot for backend application development.

• Advanced experience with Angular for designing and building modern web applications.

• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs, service-based architectures, and enterprise integrations.

• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database design principles.

• Experience working with API management and integration platforms such as Apigee, Kong, or MuleSoft.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, clean architecture, and separation of concerns.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized development, and cloud-native deployment environments.

• Strong background in automated testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security standards, including OWASP principles.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for improving engineering productivity.

• Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.

• Proven experience participating in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities.

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable, and production-ready code.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
