Job Description:
The research finance analyst position is responsible for facilitating the UofL Health departmental review process to help determine the impact to operations in affected areas and to help ensure all costs are identified and any concerns are addressed early in the facility review process. The position also coordinates the monthly accounting and reporting of research services and related accounts receivable, including patient accounting and the additional administrative tasks that our clinical service lines must complete per research protocol requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Review clinical research protocols for financial/operational impact & work with UofL Health departments to determine feasibility and identify all applicable costs. Provide pricing to researchers for items/services required.
- Review and approve the coverage analysis of billable items and services submitted by clinical researchers. Review final clinical research budgets to ensure accurate coverage analysis, pricing and UofL Health cost coverage. Revise or prepare coverage analysis documents as need to ensure compliant billing plan is developed, maintained and followed. Review contracts, budgets and consent forms to ensure congruency.
- Facilitate billing compliance by driving the process with the Cerner Clinical Informatics (CI) team and UL Cancer Trials Program to review the Cerner power plan builds at time of study start up and throughout the life of clinical trial.
- Track and Invoice for non-patient AR research services such as ULHRO fees, anatomical pathology lab services, pharmacy services, imaging transfer fees and bill the research program when applicable. Follow up on outstanding AR as needed.
- Cross train to ensure daily coverage of the UofL Health research billing email service account as needed for institutional compliance to include reviews of anatomical pathology requests, generate daily system reports and hold encounters in the patient accounting systems to avoid improper claims processing.

Exempt position works 80 productive hours each pay period and paid biweekly.
Daily hours are flexible as long as no less than 80 productive hours are worked.
On occasion, position may require additional hours to meet deadlines or for special projects.
Other Functions:
- Prepare, submit and maintain local CMS and CGS approvals for investigational device trials.
- Complete Cerner POM, Epic Research Record Set up as needed
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
