Opalus Investments Limited is developing OPAL, an AI-powered SaaS business operating platform for SMEs. OPAL places accounting at the core and connects finance, customers, people, projects, documents and workflow in one secure operating environment. We are establishing our software development team and office in Kochi, Kerala.
The opportunity
Bridge accounting and compliance requirements with product and engineering delivery, ensuring that OPAL’s workflows are accurate, testable and practical for Australian SMEs.
What you’ll do
- Map current and target workflows across accounting, banking, payroll and compliance processes.
- Prepare clear functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and process models.
- Research and validate GST, BAS, PAYG and superannuation requirements with appropriate subject-matter input.
- Define business rules, exceptions, controls, audit evidence and reporting needs.
- Coordinate requirements for payroll, recruitment, banking and other external integrations.
- Support test design, user acceptance testing, defect triage and release validation.
- Assist with localisation and regional-compliance analysis.
- Maintain traceable documentation from requirement through implementation and verification.
Opalus Investments Limited is developing OPAL, an AI-powered SaaS business operating platform for small and medium-sized businesses. With accounting at its core, OPAL is designed to connect finance, banking, customers, people, recruitment, projects, documents, workflow and reporting in one secure operating environment. A permissioned AI layer is being designed across the connected business record to help users understand information, prepare work and take controlled action with appropriate approvals and audit trails.
The company has completed a high-fidelity working prototype and is building the production-grade platform for an initial Australian release. Opalus is now establishing a software development office and multidisciplinary product team in Kochi, Kerala, to help take OPAL through engineering, testing, release and ongoing product development.
What you bring
- 6+ years of business analysis experience in accounting systems, ERP, payroll, banking or FinTech.
- Ability to turn complex policy and process requirements into precise, testable specifications.
- Practical experience working with financial software ecosystems and business integrations.
- Exposure to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online Australia, Reckon or comparable SME accounting platforms.
- Experience with bank feeds, transaction synchronisation, payment workflows, reconciliation processes, or open banking/API-based financial integrations.
- Experience with payroll platforms and workflows, including payroll calculations, employee records, compliance requirements, and integrations with accounting systems.
- Experience defining requirements for APIs, data flows, third-party integrations and system-to-system workflows.
- Strong business-analysis experience in accounting, payroll, banking and compliance workflows.
- Australian accounting or payroll-domain knowledge, including GST, BAS, PAYG and superannuation workflows.
- Direct experience in Australian SME accounting or payroll ecosystems.
- Experience with agile requirements management and cross-functional product teams.
- Process-modelling experience using BPMN or comparable techniques.
- Strong facilitation, documentation and stakeholder-communication skills, with experience facilitating and documenting requirements with finance, compliance, product and engineering stakeholders.
- Eligible to work in India.
- Based in Kochi or willing to relocate to Kochi.
- Available for occasional overlap with Australian business hours.
- Available for occasional extended hours during key delivery periods, such as user acceptance testing, major releases, or compliance-related milestones.
