Sr DevOps Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr DevOps Engineer based in Canada.

As a Sr DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, scalability, and operational performance of critical cloud products. You will work closely with engineering, quality assurance, operations, and technical support teams to design and implement robust cloud solutions. The role combines infrastructure automation, CI/CD engineering, cloud deployment, and proactive reliability management. You will investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements that prevent problems before they affect customers. You will also contribute to planning, risk management, and continuous improvements across the development and deployment lifecycle. Accountabilities

• Design, maintain, and improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems supporting critical cloud services.

• Partner with engineering, QA, operations, and technical support teams to understand requirements and implement reliable cloud solutions.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize cloud deployments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure and other cloud service environments.

• Build and manage Azure DevOps build and deployment pipelines to support efficient and dependable software delivery.

• Use Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices to provision and manage cloud environments.

• Monitor product reliability, uptime, and operational performance while proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.

• Investigate problems across applications, infrastructure, and deployment environments to determine root causes and implement sustainable solutions.

• Maintain detailed tracking of work activities, risks, dependencies, and future initiatives to support effective planning and execution.

• Improve existing infrastructure, automation, deployment processes, and engineering practices to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

• Contribute to secure cloud and infrastructure practices, continuously developing knowledge of cybersecurity and network security requirements.

• Participate in Agile practices, including scrums, sprints, retrospectives, and collaborative planning.

• Take ownership of assigned initiatives from identification through completion while maintaining a strong focus on customer and team outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD systems for critical cloud services.

• Proven experience maintaining cloud services and production deployments, preferably within Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud environments.

• Hands-on experience developing and deploying solutions using Azure DevOps build pipelines.

• Strong experience using Terraform to provision and deploy solutions in Microsoft Azure.

• Proficiency with PowerShell and other scripting languages for automation and operational tasks.

• Working knowledge of Git, Ansible, Terraform, and Packer.

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a willingness to investigate complex systems and improve existing solutions.

• Understanding of software development, cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational reliability.

• A proactive, ownership-oriented approach with the ability to drive work through to completion.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

• High personal integrity, accountability, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.

• A continuous-learning mindset and genuine interest in improving technical knowledge and engineering practices.

• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and contribute positively to team success.

• Experience with Packer for creating operating system images across multiple platforms is an advantage.

• Experience with GitHub Actions build and deployment pipelines is a plus.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity and network security concepts, or a strong willingness to develop expertise in these areas, is preferred.

• Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, sprints, and retrospectives is beneficial.
