Job DetailsJob Location: Data Center - McAllen - McAllen, TX 78504JOB SUMMARY Lone Star National Bank is seeking a highly motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with 3+ years of experience to support and maintain the Bank's enterprise data ecosystem. The DBA is responsible for the administration, performance, security, availability, and recoverability of the Bank's on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid database platforms, supporting core banking applications, digital banking platforms, business intelligence solutions, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and other critical business systems. This role will support technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2), Microsoft Fabric, and other current or future database and data platform technologies that support the Bank's strategic initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES The duties listed below may not include all the responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties, as assigned, including cross training across other departments, as necessary. Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and other database platforms. administering on-prem and Azure cloud database platforms, or hybrid environments. Monitor database performance, availability, and storage utilization. Perform database tuning and optimization to improve application performance. Develop and maintain database maintenance plans, including backups, index management, and integrity checks. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, performance issues, and outages. Administer database access using role-based access controls (RBAC). Implement database security best practices and ensure compliance with bank security standards. Manage database credentials and privileged access in accordance with security policies. Design and maintain backup and recovery procedures. Perform and document restoration testing activities. Support application implementations, upgrades, and data migrations. Coordinate with vendors and application owners during system upgrades and troubleshooting activities. Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and incident response activities as required. Collaborate with IT/IS leadership to evaluate, recommend, and implement tools that enhance security posture, endpoint lifecycle management, and user experience. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the position successfully. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years of hands-on database administration experience. Minimum 3 years of experience administering on-prem and Azure cloud database platforms. Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments, ADLS Gen2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle DB and Microsoft Fabric. Strong understanding of database backup and recovery strategies. Experience with database security, permissions, and auditing. Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions. Excellence in communicating business risk and remediation requirements from assessments. Analytical and problem-solving mindset. Highly organized and efficient. Experience in the banking or financial services sector. (Preferred) Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred. (Preferred) Knowledge of Microsoft Azure SQL, cloud database services, or hybrid environments. Experience with PowerShell or SQL scripting automation. Maintain accurate database documentation, diagrams, procedures, and operational runbooks. Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired. ORGANIZATION This position is reported directly to Technical Operations Manager TRAINING REQUIREMENTS All employees are required to attend scheduled mandatory training courses and complete online regulatory compliance training courses applicable to their specific job function. In all situations, employees must ensure that their actions fully comply with all federal banking laws and regulations, including internal bank policies and procedures. Failure to adhere to these requirements will be grounds for disciplinary action, including probation and possible termination.
