Associate Data Scientist

Join us on an 18-month fixed-term contract as an Associate Data Scientist and be part of our established Performance & Insights team, helping us make better use of data to support smarter business decisions across Affinity Water.

You’ll work with a variety of data to uncover insights, identify trends and patterns, and support the development of predictive and machine learning models. You’ll also work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and turn them into meaningful analytical solutions.

This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their data science career who is curious, enjoys solving problems and wants to develop their skills in a real-world business environment.

What you'll be doing

• Collect, clean and analyse structured and unstructured data.

• Explore datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights.

• Support the development and deployment of statistical and machine learning models.

• Create clear and engaging data visualisations to communicate findings.

• Use Python or R and SQL to analyse and manipulate data.

• Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs.

• Contribute to a collaborative, data-driven team and keep up to date with new data science tools and techniques.

What we're looking for

• A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related subject.

• Experience using Python or R, including tools such as Pandas and NumPy.

• Knowledge of machine learning and statistical concepts.

• Experience using SQL for data extraction and manipulation.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• The ability to explain complex data and insights clearly.

• Experience working with datasets through academic projects, internships or previous roles.

• A curious, proactive approach and willingness to learn.

• The ability to work collaboratively and manage changing priorities.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, or version control tools such as Git - desirable
