Schwab Technology Services (STS) enables the future of how clients manage their money through innovative, scalable, and secure technology solutions. As a Senior Data Engineer within the Sales & Service Data Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in advancing strategic Wealth Management and Financial Services initiatives that support client experiences, business growth, and operational excellence.
In this highly visible role, you will lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise-scale cloud data solutions that power critical business capabilities across Sales & Service platforms. You will partner closely with product owners, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to solve complex data challenges, improve decision-making, and deliver resilient, trusted, and scalable data products. Your expertise will help shape the organization's long-term data strategy while accelerating cloud modernization efforts leveraging Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Airflow, Salesforce integrations, and modern engineering practices.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to balance innovation with reliability in a highly regulated environment. You will influence engineering direction through hands-on development, technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across cross-functional teams. What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or enterprise application development.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale data integration and data engineering solutions.
- Advanced experience with Snowflake, Python, Microsoft SQL Server, Informatica IDMC, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Apache Airflow, GitHub, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong expertise in data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
- Experience implementing modern data engineering practices, including change data capture, reconciliation frameworks, medallion architecture, data transformation, and data quality solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to build secure, scalable, and highly available data pipelines and data platforms.
- Strong experience troubleshooting complex production issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting Wealth Management, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries.
- SnowPro certification or advanced Snowflake credentials.
- GCP Professional Data Engineer or related cloud certifications.
- Experience leading cloud modernization, digital transformation, or enterprise data platform initiatives.
- Knowledge of enterprise data governance, security, compliance, and risk management practices.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical workstreams within Agile delivery teams.
- Familiarity with Salesforce data integrations and customer experience platforms.
- Experience driving DevSecOps, observability, and automation initiatives across large-scale engineering organizations.
In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
