The role

We're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team and play a central role in building the data foundation our business runs on.

Sitting within the Data Engineering sub-team and reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, you'll design, build and maintain the ingestion pipelines, databases and curated datasets that our data platform and wider Data & AI estate depend on. This is a build-and-run role where you'll develop new pipelines, keep day-to-day operations running smoothly, and investigate and resolve data issues as they arise. You'll work AI-first using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery, contribute to the pipelines that feed our AI team's work, and collaborate closely with our external data and AI partner on shared delivery.

What you will be doing

  • Build and maintain data ingestion and pipelines across structured and unstructured sources, landing, transforming and making data available reliably and at scale.
  • Develop and maintain components of the data platform — Snowflake, databases and supporting tooling — within the architecture and standards set by the Data Engineering Manager.
  • Support platform reliability, performance and cost in practice — monitoring pipelines, investigating failures and resolving day-to-day issues, escalating to the Manager where needed.
  • Contribute to analytics engineering and the semantic layer, producing curated, well-modelled datasets that feed reporting and data products.
  • Build AI-facing data foundations — AI semantics and unstructured-data pipelines — that support the data products and data agents consumed by the AI team.
  • Work to the engineering standards, ways of working and technical direction set for the data domain, applying them consistently in build and code review.
  • Work AI-first, using AI-assisted engineering and DataOps automation to accelerate delivery and operations, and build skills in emerging data and platform tooling.

What makes you stand out

We're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer who builds and runs production-grade pipelines and data models, working AI-first alongside a collaborative team and external data and AI partner.

  • Build and maintain ingestion pipelines, databases and curated datasets to production standards
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve pipeline and data issues day to day
  • Build AI semantics and unstructured-data pipelines feeding BI and AI use cases
  • Use AI-assisted tooling and DataOps automation to accelerate delivery
  • Participate in code review and uphold technical standards
  • 4–5 years delivering production pipelines and data models in a data engineering role
  • Strong SQL, Python and cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake or comparable)
  • Data engineer or analytics engineer who has built and supported production pipelines on a cloud data platform; exposure to modern analytics engineering tooling (dbt) and, ideally, engineering data for AI/GenAI consumption.Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
