This role is based in Basingstoke on a Hybrid basis working 3 days office and 2 days at home.
The role and what you'll deliver:
We're looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing Data Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with stakeholders, solving business problems with data and creating impactful reporting solutions that drive real business outcomes.
Using technologies such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and Power Automate, alongside languages including DAX and SQL, you'll help transform complex data into trusted, meaningful insight across our Savings, Mortgage and Point-of-Sale Lending businesses.
Whether you're developing dashboards, supporting self-service analytics, improving data quality or contributing to our data governance framework, you'll play an important role in helping colleagues across the Bank unlock greater value from data.
You will:
Reporting and Analytics
- Develop engaging dashboards, reports and analytical solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective, user-friendly data solutions.
- Build and maintain Power BI reporting solutions, presentation-layer datasets and semantic models in line with best practice.
- Support business change initiatives by delivering insightful and accurate reporting outputs.
Data Quality & Governance
- Validate, test and reconcile data to ensure reporting outputs are trusted and reliable.
- Investigate data quality issues and work with Data Engineering and business teams to improve data integrity.
- Contribute to data dictionaries, report catalogues, business definitions and lineage documentation.
- Support business data owners and report owners in maintaining good governance and reporting standards.
Self-Service Analytics & Adoption
- Support colleagues in making effective use of reporting and analytical tools.
- Promote the adoption of self-service analytics and governed data products.
- Provide guidance and training to super users, report owners and data stewards.
- Help improve data literacy and reduce reliance on manual reporting processes.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Bank's modern data platform.
- Support emerging AI-enabled analytics and natural language reporting capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting usability, performance and stakeholder experience.
- Become a trusted source of expertise on data, reporting solutions and business processes.
What you'll bring:
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with a genuine curiosity about how businesses use data.
We're seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual who can turn data into actionable insights, build strong stakeholder relationships, champion data quality and governance, and support the adoption of data-driven decision-making through modern analytics and AI-enabled technologies.
You will also have the following:
Essential
- Experience designing and delivering Business Intelligence solutions using Power BI.
- Strong SQL querying, data analysis and data validation skills.
- Strong understanding of DAX, including measures, calculated columns, time intelligence and performance optimisation.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, engage stakeholders and translate business needs into effective reporting and analytical solutions.
- Experience supporting data testing, validation and quality assurance activities.
- Understanding of data governance principles including business definitions, ownership, lineage and reporting standards.
- Awareness of AI-enabled analytics, Copilot and natural language reporting capabilities.
Desirable
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows Gen2 and Semantic Models.
- Experience designing dimensional models and star schemas to support reporting and analytics solutions.
- Azure data services, Databricks or cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Agile delivery environments.
- Data dictionaries, report catalogues or data lineage initiatives.
- Experience within Financial Services or other regulated environments.
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Fabric Analytics Engineer or similar.
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems or a related discipline.
