Position Summary

The Data Analyst collects, integrates, manages, and analyzes complex data to support strategic decisions. This position transforms data from multiple business systems into reliable reporting, actionable insights, and forecasts that help leadership understand business performance and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

Job Objectives

Essential Job Duties

  • Partner with executives and department leaders to identify business questions, analytical needs, performance indicators, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop sales, revenue, demand, customer-acquisition, and marketing-performance forecasts.
  • Collect, integrate, and reconcile data from sales, marketing, website, customer, product, financial, and operational systems.
  • Develop and maintain automated dashboards, reports, scorecards, and executive-level performance summaries.
  • Use appropriate technologies to extract, clean, transform, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets.
  • Analyze marketing performance, including customer acquisition costs, conversion rates, channel profitability, return on advertising spend, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Analyze sales and customer behavior, including purchasing patterns, retention, repeat purchases, product affinity, customer segmentation, and lifetime value.
  • Build tools that help leadership evaluate potential changes in pricing, advertising investment, customer acquisition, conversion, and retention.
  • Investigate discrepancies between reporting systems and recommend solutions to improve data accuracy and consistency.
  • Work with technical teams and third-party vendors to implement new data sources, integrations, and reporting capabilities.
  • Present complex analyses through clear reports, visualizations, presentations, and recommendations for nontechnical audiences.
  • Train stakeholders to interpret dashboards, reports, KPIs, and analytical findings accurately.
  • Prioritize analytical projects according to potential business impact, urgency, data availability, and required resources.
  • Establish and follow standards for data governance, access, security, privacy, retention, and responsible data use.
  • Assist in standardizing definitions and reliable sources of truth for revenue, orders, customers, products, marketing performance, and other key business metrics.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Five or more years of professional experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and maintaining relational databases, data models, or cloud-based data warehouses.
  • Experience building or maintaining automated ETL/ELT pipelines that move and transform data between business systems.
  • Advanced data-cleaning, reconciliation, scrubbing, and manipulation skills.
  • Experience with at least one business-intelligence or data-visualization platform, such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or a comparable tool.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, forecasts, or analytical models that influenced business decisions.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into well-defined analytical projects and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to recognize data-quality issues and determine whether available data can support a valid conclusion.
  • Preferred experience working with e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, education, publishing, subscription, or digital-product businesses.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports but collaborates with team leads in the Marketing, Customer Experience, and Operations departments.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are between Monday through

Friday. Expected hours: 37–40 per week, flexible schedule between stated hours.
