Cyber Security & Digital Identity (CDI)

From secure software to biometrics and encryption, CDI technologies and services enable businesses and governments to authenticate identities and protect data, so they stay safe and enable services in personal devices, connected objects, the cloud and in between.

Summary of role:

Responsible for supporting the DCC infrastructure and ensuring it is safe and secure.

Role and responsibilities – what success looks like:

Maintain the technical solution for infrastructure:

  • System architecture
  • Define and develop the means so that products are correctly deployed in production, respecting established rules.
  • Support delivery teams with automated tools and scripts to provision infrastructure resources (compute, network & storage) in a simple and efficient manner.

Secure the DCC infrastructure:

  • Understand the functional context of the product up to the point of challenging functional decisions
  • Ensures that operational best practices (supervision/monitoring, backups, archives, log management) are implemented.
  • Ensure the Squad is informed and aware of operational constraints, and if required trains the team on those topics.
  • Ensuring Security best practises are being upheld
  • Educate and communicate with the wider Thales UK community

  • DCC Team
  • Software Engineering Director
  • UK Engineering Management Team
  • CBU Heads of Software & Systems Engineering
  • IS Security / IS Architects

Key responsibilities & Accountabilities

Outputs:

  • Automated deployment scripts for the product
  • Proper operational best practices implemented for PaaS
  • Document design and resources

Success criteria:

  • Product is able to release into production in a timely manor
  • Ensuring maximum up time
  • Operational best practices
  • Deployment automation best practice

Best practices:

  • Monitoring the usage and alerts to anticipate necessary changes
  • Ensure platform cannot fail
  • Investigate alternative delivery process
  • Ensure a resilience process for Dev Ops tasks

Education and Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline or closely related technical field.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of having demonstrated the key competences listed elsewhere on this document.
  • Membership or fellowship of a professional engineering body preferably with chartered status.
  • Agile certification.
