Insurity’s Next Software Architect
The Software Architect defines architecture strategy, technical standards, and solution direction for complex software platforms and enterprise applications. This role partners closely with engineering, product, security, operations, and business stakeholders to design scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable systems while guiding teams through major technical decisions. The role will help reduce dependency on a small number of senior technical leaders by bringing strong architectural judgment, practical execution focus, and pragmatic use of AI-assisted engineering approaches where they improve speed, quality, or technical insight.
What Our Software Architect Will Do
Participate in SDLC estimation and development processes for highly complex assignments
Technology
- Investigate, assess, and conduct proof of concept of new technologies to determine the best technologies for our cost structure, skill structure and are the best fit for the company
- Evangelize new technologies across all stakeholders
Product Architecture
- Ability to act as a champion of design and development roadmap decisions
- Defining and evangelizing vision for product roadmap in conjunction with stakeholders
- Ensure that enhancements align with the design philosophy
- Determine new solutions that can be delivered to take advantage of new technologies and to stay current in the market
- Represent the company as a technical expert with business partners (customers, prospects, partners)
Design
- Determine technical solutions of any items
- Provide guidance to other developers
- Review other developers' solutions
- Knowledge of common design patterns
- Create and error-proof designs to reduce or eliminate maintenance and ongoing manual testing validation
- Works to reduce complexity in the code base
- Create design proposals and prototyping support for new problem spaces and first-time development of highly complex solutions or new & emerging technology
Development
- Develop technical documentation for software solutions for targeted audience, which may include internal and external customers
- Develop solutions for problems and enhancements
- Helps to set standards for coding
- Follows Insurity standards for coding and documentation
- Lead a team in delivering a solution
- Responsible for the estimating and planning of projects & solutions
- Provide peer-review of designs, code, and artifact delivery
- Provides in-depth technical troubleshooting and defect investigation & remediation
- Write code and unit tests according to Insurity standards, following an approved technical solution, for simple enhancements and bug fixes
- Develop unit tests for code changes and assigned use cases
- Design & develop automated test harnesses to exercise complex code and reduce manual testing requirements
Documentation
- Able to comment code
- Create an impact assessment doc
- Prepare and present a technical solution e.g. with PowerPoint
Other
- Stay up to date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.

Who We’re Looking For
- 10 years’ experience in Software Development
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
- Proven ability to define end-to-end architecture for platforms, services, APIs, data flows, integrations, and user-facing applications
- Strong expertise in application architecture, integration patterns, data modeling, API design, system design, and domain-aligned architecture
- Experience designing distributed, cloud-native, API-driven, and event-driven enterprise applications
- Strong understanding of modular monoliths, microservices, event-driven systems, serverless architectures, domain-driven design, and related architectural trade-offs
- Ability to translate business, functional, and non-functional requirements into solution blueprints, reference architectures, architecture decision records, quality attributes, and implementation guidance
- Experience leading architecture reviews and evaluating options, constraints, risks, and trade-offs across scalability, performance, speed, quality, security, cost, and maintainability
- Ability to establish and govern standards for resilience, interoperability, observability, security, privacy, maintainability, and cost efficiency
- Experience supporting modernization initiatives across legacy systems, APIs, data platforms, integrations, and cloud-native services
- Strong understanding of containers, Kubernetes, orchestration, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, zero-trust design, resilience engineering, and production observability
- Experience with API management, asynchronous messaging, event streaming, caching, distributed data patterns, and enterprise integration platforms
- Familiarity with structured architecture practices such as TOGAF, reference architectures, architecture decision records, threat modeling, automated architecture fitness checks, policy-as-code, and engineering governance
- Experience partnering with security and engineering teams on threat modeling, identity, authorization, data protection, secure design, and software supply-chain security
- Experience designing or governing AI-enabled and agentic capabilities, including model APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool calling, orchestration, evaluations, guardrails, observability, security, and human oversight
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering and applied AI capabilities for architecture, engineering, analysis, documentation, and validation workflows
- Ability to mentor engineers, technical leads, and architects on system design, architecture quality, and technical decision-making
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to partner with leadership to align technical direction with product objectives, delivery priorities, and long-term platform strategy
- Ability to collaborate effectively across globally distributed teams, including planned working-time overlap with North American stakeholders
