About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The position reports to the Supervisor, Meter Data Collections and is located at the Central Electric Lab in Akron, Ohio.
Responsibilities include:
- Working under direct supervision of the Supervisor, Meter Data Collections and coordinating with other technical teams including vendor teams to support the timely and accurate daily processing of meter reading exceptions.
- Daily monitoring of transaction reports to resolve data collection exceptions quickly.
- Recognizing variances in data, researching their causes, and recommending courses of action to address problems with data and recording system.
- Analyze event data from the smart meters and determine appropriate course of action (e.g. create work orders for field personnel to investigate).
- Develop, validate and maintain procedure/process/reporting documentation as well as identifying potential improvements to existing procedures or new procedure requirements.
- Validating installation status of smart meters using various reports and systems to verify completion and identifying non-communicating meters and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Understanding field metering functions at a level sufficient to provide daily support to regional metering services personnel engaged in residential, commercial and industrial metering activities.
- Understanding how electricity use is measured using both electronic and electro-mechanical revenue metering devices.
- Supporting data research and reporting requests from Regional Customer Support staff.
- Understand and apply Operating Company tariff language with respect to the processing of metering data.
- Creating tickets and routing to appropriate group for resolution based on exception type
- Supporting Regional Operations from time to time during storms or other significant grid outage events.
- Ability to respond to operational needs outside of standard working hours when required.
An employee hired at the Associate Business Analyst level will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Associate Business Analyst level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.
Qualifications at the Assistant Business Analyst level include:
- Two or four-year degree in a related discipline preferred with minimum 0-2 years professional work experience required. In lieu of degree, 2 years direct, related professional work experience will be required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in SAP a plus.
- Ability to use and understand SQL query language will be considered a plus.
- Working knowledge of utility industry preferred
- Basic understanding of business process architecture preferred
- Basic understanding of technology architecture preferred
- Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results and strengthen existing relationships.
- Strong analytical ability to evaluate database structures, understand data flows, and analyze data from a variety of sources.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures and have the ability to identify where a process or procedure may need to be modified.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of utility industry preferred.
- Basic understanding of meter data.
- Working knowledge of billing systems.
Additional qualifications at the Associate Business Analyst level include all of the above plus:
- Two or four-year degree in a related discipline preferred, with minimum 2 years professional work experience required. In lieu of degree, 4 years direct, related professional work experience will be required.
- Two or four year degree in a related discipline is preferred, along with a minimum of 4 years professional work experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years of direct, related experience will be considered. The experience must be at a professional (exempt) level.
