As a Software Engineering Principal within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.

Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, automate, and support enterprise DevOps capabilities across a portfolio of mission-critical applications and platforms. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, release automation, infrastructure automation, deployment tooling, observability solutions, and platform engineering capabilities that enable development teams to deliver software securely, reliably, and efficiently.

The ideal candidate possesses strong Linux administration skills, deep expertise in automation and release engineering, and hands-on experience with container platforms, infrastructure as code, monitoring, DevSecOps, and production support. This role will partner closely with application development, infrastructure, architecture, security, and operations teams to drive automation, standardization, reliability, and operational excellence. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines and release automation frameworks.
  • Automate application deployment, environment promotion, and rollback processes across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Lead the automation of Pega deployment and promotion activities while establishing repeatable deployment patterns for other application platforms.
  • Support production turnovers, releases, and maintenance activities, including direct execution of deployments when required.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, and platform management.
  • Build and maintain automation using Ansible, Jenkins, scripting languages, and other DevOps tooling.
  • Engineer containerized deployment solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Implement and support monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability platforms to improve system reliability and operational visibility.
  • Partner with security teams to integrate vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, secrets management, and DevSecOps controls into delivery pipelines.
  • Develop operational standards, deployment procedures, runbooks, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Support root cause analysis, incident management, problem management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging DevOps technologies and recommend solutions that improve automation, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for DevOps practices, release engineering, platform management, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Release Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience in enterprise environments.
  • Extensive experience with Jenkins pipeline development and administration.
  • Strong experience with Ansible and configuration management automation.
  • Hands-on experience with container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise source control and repository platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Nexus, or similar tools.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash, Python, PowerShell, Groovy, or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and release automation solutions.
  • Experience supporting highly available production environments and mission-critical applications.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure concepts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
