Full description
At InterSystems, we’re building the next generation of powerful, intuitive software for critical systems across healthcare, finance, data management, and beyond. As a Senior UX Designer on our UX team, you’ll help shape how users interact with complex, high-impact applications—from data platforms and analytics engines to cloud-based healthcare tools, electronic health records, and solutions used by governments and global enterprises.
You’ll have the opportunity to define the future of how people interact with complex, data-rich systems by designing, prototyping, and testing elegant, intuitive, and empowering experiences. You’ll work as part of a team reimagining how users explore and act on data to guide the design of next-generation platforms that unlock insights from massive, mission-critical datasets across healthcare, finance, and beyond. As AI becomes an increasingly important part of these systems, you’ll help ensure it is applied intentionally and appropriately to enhance and accelerate workflows, while avoiding unnecessary complexity. You may also collaborate with cross-functional teams to create UX for industry-leading healthcare applications, designing workflows that help clinicians and care teams make better decisions faster, with AI integrated in ways that are transparent, supportive, and grounded in real user needs.
We are actively exploring new paradigms for User Experience in the AI age, infusing AI into every aspect of our enterprise applications, and your work will transform how our users query, visualize, manage, and understand data—whether through conversational interfaces, intelligent recommendations, or entirely new paradigms for interacting with complex systems.
In this role, you will:
- Drive innovation by questioning assumptions, exploring emerging technologies, and pushing for better ways to solve tough UX challenges.
- Design with impact, creating human-centered experiences that simplify complexity without sacrificing power or precision.
- Collaborate deeply with engineers, product managers, domain experts, and fellow UX designers to bring bold ideas to life.
- Prototype and iterate to discover what works—leveraging research, testing, and storytelling to shape products from concept to launch.
- Help evolve the UX strategy and design language for a broad ecosystem of applications and services.
If you’re excited by the idea of designing tools that help people solve meaningful problems—tools that are smart, scalable, and genuinely useful—you’ll fit in well!
We’re looking for:
- 7+ years of experience as a user experience designer (UXD) or generalist, including research experience, or similar
- Experience designing enterprise software like IDEs, data pipelines, big data analytics tools, machine learning workflows, data catalogs and data management tools, low-code tools, or other tools that focus on data-hungry users.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software for designing and prototyping (We often use Figma).
- Ability to think both creatively and analytically.
- Strong storytelling, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Team oriented and self-motivated.
- A continuous learning mindset.
You will also help with research and application of the capabilities of AI:
- Explore and evaluate emerging AI capabilities in the design space, identifying opportunities to apply new tools, workflows, and interaction models to improve both user experiences and internal UX practices
- Define and evolve UX principles for AI-driven experiences, shaping how AI behaves across our products—with an emphasis on clarity, user control, appropriate automation, and trust
- Design AI-powered features and workflows, collaborating with product, engineering, and data science teams to create intelligent, human-in-the-loop experiences across a growing portfolio of AI-enabled products
Nice to Have’s:
- Understanding W3C and 508 accessibility guidelines.
- Familiarity with terminology from data science/data engineering OR healthcare-related domains.
- Familiarity with basic programming concepts and terminology related to front-end web development.
- Experience working with LLMs and designing human in the loop workflows.
- Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Psychology, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Some samples of your work illustrate your approach and results.
