See Yourself in the Team
The Financial Crime Data CoE is a strategic leadership function at the heart of CommBank's Economic Crime transformation. The team partners with senior leaders, product teams and technology domains to drive data strategy, strengthen governance and build the critical data capabilities that support the detection, prevention and disruption of financial crime. Their work shapes enterprise outcomes, influences investment decisions and helps create a more intelligence-led organisation.
Operating across a complex enterprise environment, they are trusted advisors and key contributors to CommBank's Economic Crime agenda.
Your Impact & Contribution
As Senior Manager, Data Product Strategy, you’ll own the Economic Crime data product strategy and backlog, translating business, risk and operational priorities into clearly defined data product requirements.
You’ll act as the bridge between Economic Crime and the domains that produce and manage the data, ensuring teams are clear on what data is required, why it matters, how it should be prioritised and what a fit-for-purpose product needs to deliver.
This is a highly connected role, working across a large and varied producer landscape. With around 40 data producers expected to be engaged over the course of the year, you’ll provide the structure, prioritisation and follow-through needed to keep delivery moving and maintain a clear view of the overall portfolio. It places greater emphasis on stakeholder engagement, coordination and follow-through than deep technical specialism, while still requiring sufficient data knowledge to recognise when requirements or proposed solutions are not aligned.
You’ll be successful when Economic Crime has a clear, prioritised and actively managed view of its data product needs, and producer teams understand exactly what is required of them.
Your work will help ensure:
- Economic Crime data requirements are clear, consistent and well prioritised
- Delivery expectations are visible and actively managed
- A single consolidated backlog provides transparency across the portfolio
- Proposed data products are assessed against Economic Crime outcomes
- Ownership, dependency and delivery issues are identified and resolved earlier
- Reusable enterprise data products increasingly replace bespoke downstream sourcing and remediation
- Progress across multiple producers can be understood at portfolio level
- Migration towards cloud-based data products remains coordinated across the producer landscape
- Developing the target portfolio and roadmap of data products required to support Economic Crime strategy and transformation priorities
Your Skills & Experience
We’re looking for an experienced data or product leader who can combine strong prioritisation, stakeholder influence and delivery discipline with enough technical depth to challenge effectively.
You’ll bring:
- Strong experience in data strategy, data products, enterprise data management or complex data delivery, including proven ability to translate complex business, risk and operational needs into clear data roadmaps
- Strong product management, backlog management or portfolio prioritisation capability
- Experience working across distributed teams where delivery accountability sits outside your direct control
- Strong stakeholder engagement across business, data, technology and risk functions, as well as confidence resolving competing priorities, ownership issues and cross-domain dependencies
- Understanding of data architecture, lineage, data quality, governance and reusable enterprise data products, with enough technical fluency to test assumptions, identify gaps and challenge proposed solutions constructively
- Ability to consolidate multiple delivery streams into a clear portfolio view
- A proactive, persistent approach to follow-through, actions and commitments
- Ability to operate independently at Senior Manager level
Experience within financial services, Economic Crime, risk, large-scale transformation or data modernisation would be highly regarded.
Candidates from backgrounds such as Technical Product Management, Product Ownership, Data Delivery, Data Programmes or enterprise data transformation may also be well aligned.
