Overview

The Graphic Designer is a creative and forward-thinking role dedicated to both traditional design and emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This position produces compelling digital and print marketing collateral to support the Association’s mission and effectively engage the target community. The role leverages AI-powered creative tools to accelerate concept development, while applying expert aesthetic judgment to deliver polished, brand-consistent deliverables. The Graphic Designer seamlessly transitions between designing original assets from scratch, refining AI-generated concepts, and collaborating closely with a dynamic marketing team to bring comprehensive campaigns to life.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday from 8AM - 5PM
  • Hybrid work environment, some travel required to various branch locations

Responsibilities

  • Designs high-quality digital and print collateral, including advertisements, flyers, brochures, social media graphics, email assets, signage, presentations, and promotional materials that align with organizational objectives
  • Utilizes AI-powered creative tools to generate concepts, imagery, layouts, and design variations, refining and elevating AI-generated output into polished, professional, on-brand creative assets
  • Maintains strict brand consistency across all marketing touchpoints, distribution channels, and campaigns
  • Collaborates closely with marketing, communications, and internal stakeholders to develop creative solutions that support organizational goals
  • Prepares and delivers production-ready files optimized for both print and digital distribution
  • Handles multiple simultaneous projects efficiently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Stays current on evolving design trends, advancements in AI-driven design tools, and creative best practices
  • A portfolio showcasing previous work that demonstrates creative thinking, technical proficiency, and brand-focused design required
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Strong understanding of core design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, and visual storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability leveraging AI-driven creative platforms (e.g., Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, Midjourney, DALL·E, or Canva AI)
  • Proven ability to prepare production-ready files for both print and digital publishing
  • Strong organizational, cross-functional communication, and time management skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required, supplemented by specialized training in graphic design, design software, art, or a related field
  • 2+ years' of professional graphic design experience
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $22.64 - USD $27.17 /Hr.
