About mimic
mimic robotics is an early stage deep tech robotics & AI start-up based in Zurich and supported by leading VCs. We give industry workers a helping hand for tedious manual labor tasks and mitigate labor shortages with a versatile automation platform. Our automation solutions, driven by dexterous robotic hands and cutting edge AI trained on human observations, bring a new level of AI embodiment to the real world.
As an Embedded Systems Engineer you will have direct, hands-on involvement in the development of our state-of-the-art dexterous robotic hand. You will drive critical advancements in the hand’s multi-modal sensor systems, integrating high-density tactile, pressure, and proprioceptive feedback to move us closer to human-like perception and spatial awareness. By bridging the gap between advanced hardware and physical AI, your work will provide the sensory foundation needed to push the existing boundaries of autonomous automation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain high-performance firmware for our dexterous robotic hand
- Act as the technical owner of the electronic system, overseeing system characterization and troubleshooting to maximize reliability and performance
- Lead the development and integration of multi-modal sensor systems, ensuring reliable, human-like perception and spatial awareness
- Manage compliance and certification workflows (e.g., CE, RoHS) to ensure all electronic systems meet regulatory and safety standards for deployment
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field
- Professional experience in embedded firmware development (C/C++)
- Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and low-level driver development
- Strong experience with different sensing modalities and fusion techniques
- Experience in PCB design and schematic capture for complex electronics
- Ability to work independently and drive projects from concept to production
- Proficiency in English
Nice to have
- Practical proficiency in mechanical prototyping and rapid iteration techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CAD modeling)
- Experience with robotics middleware and interfacing embedded firmware with high-level control or planning stacks
Compensation & Benefits
- We offer a total compensation package including a competitive yearly base salary and a strong stock option package to make you part of our shared success.
- You will have the opportunity to shape a robotics & AI company from the ground up. In flat hierarchies you will work directly with the founders and some of the best talents in the robotics space. At mimic, you are accepted for who you are. As part of our ongoing journey towards creating a diverse and inclusive environment we encourage everyone to apply and we are looking forward to you bringing along your knowledge, personal experiences, and fresh perspectives. Together we can solve some of the greatest challenges in robotics.
