Full description

Overview Microsoft Frontier Company is a new line of business and one of the industry's first customer outcome-driven organizations, bringing together industry expertise, strategic partnerships and engineering as part of MCAPS. Its teams will work side-by-side with customers to co-design, deploy, and continuously improve AI systems that deliver measurable, customer-defined outcomes. The organization is built around end-to-end Frontier Transformation, helping customers turn AI into real, lasting business value. For those joining, it's a chance to help build a new growth engine for Microsoft and shape how the industry moves from delivering technology to delivering outcomes.

The Frontier Company GTM team is seeking an experienced Technical Writer-Editor to turn complex AI, engineering, industry, and customer transformation topics into clear, accurate, compelling content. This role will establish the editorial approach for Frontier Company technical storytelling and partner across engineering, industry, marketing, communications, and customer teams to create content for executive, business, and technical audiences.

Microsoft is on a mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Our culture is anchored on embracing a growth mindset, where anyone can change, learn, and grow. Four attributes allow this growth mindset to flourish: obsessing over what matters to our customers, becoming more diverse and inclusive in everything we do and create, operating as one company instead of multiple siloed businesses and lastly, making a difference in the lives of each other, our customers and the world around us. You can help us build our culture and achieve our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a technical content and editorial strategy aligned to Frontier Company business priorities, customer outcomes, audience needs, and key moments.
  • Serve as the lead editor and quality bar for technical content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with approved messaging.
  • Write, edit, and adapt content across formats, including technical articles, white papers, executive narratives, customer stories, web content, event materials, briefing documents, and internal guidance.
  • Interview engineers, industry leaders, customers, partners, and executives to uncover insights, validate claims, and translate technical detail into credible stories and points of view.
  • Create and maintain editorial standards, terminology, voice, templates, source-of-truth materials, and review processes that enable consistent content across teams and agencies.
  • Partner with legal, privacy, responsible AI, brand, and other reviewers to ensure content meets Microsoft standards and appropriately handles customer and technical information.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, editorial calendars, review cycles, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Use performance insights, audience feedback, and emerging business priorities to improve the content strategy, editorial standards, and portfolio over time.

Successful Candidate will be:

  • Strategic and audience-focused writer and editor who can shape a clear point of view, not simply capture source material.
  • Working knowledge of cloud, AI, data, security, and enterprise technology, with the curiosity to quickly learn unfamiliar technical and industry domains.
  • Required writing, structural editing, copyediting, and storytelling skills, with an ability to make complex subjects accessible without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.
  • Skilled at interviewing executives, engineers, customers, and subject-matter experts; identifying the essential story; and constructively challenging unclear or unsupported claims.
  • Collaborative and able to influence across functions, reconcile competing feedback, and maintain editorial quality in a fast-moving environment.
  • Required judgment, intellectual curiosity, initiative, and the ability to manage priorities independently in an evolving organization.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, a technical discipline or related field AND 4+ years technical writing, technical editing, content strategy, journalism, or communications for enterprise technology, cloud, AI, engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing content with senior executives and technical subject-matter experts in fast-paced, complex, and often ambiguous environments.
  • A portfolio of published or professional writing and editing samples that demonstrates technical depth, editorial judgment, and range across formats.
