Help Build and Operate the Future of Global Connectivity

Polar Field Services (PFS) is seeking a highly motivated Network Operations & Deployment Engineer to support the TaaraConnect program, an innovative Free Space Optical Communications (FSOC) network delivering high-speed wireless connectivity around the world.

This role is ideal for an experienced network operations, telecommunications, or systems engineering professional who enjoys a combination of network troubleshooting, automation, cloud infrastructure, incident response, and occasional field deployment work supporting cutting-edge communications technology.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and support large-scale wireless backhaul networks operating worldwide.
  • Detect, triage, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in a 24x7 operations environment.
  • Support routing, switching, VPNs, network monitoring, and remote infrastructure management.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, observability, and alerting systems using industry-standard tools.
  • Analyze logs, telemetry, and operational data to improve network performance and reliability.
  • Develop automation using Python, shell scripting, APIs, and cloud-based services.
  • Build and support Linux virtual machines and services within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Create and maintain runbooks, knowledge articles, and incident documentation.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and serve as an escalation point for critical events.
  • Assist deployment teams with network integration, site turn-up, troubleshooting, and customer implementations when needed.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

✔ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.

✔ 5+ years of network operations, network administration, telecommunications engineering, or related experience supporting production environments.

✔ Strong Linux administration experience, including command-line troubleshooting, scripting, and log analysis.

✔ Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, or similar tools.

✔ Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing and switching, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and related protocols.

✔ Experience working in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

✔ Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and incident management skills.

✔ Ability to work onsite in Sunnyvale and participate in shift schedules, after-hours support, and on-call rotations.

✔ Valid U.S. passport and authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

➕ CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or similar networking certifications.

➕ Experience with automation, version control, and configuration management.

➕ SQL database experience.

➕ Experience with optical transport, microwave, RF, or Free Space Optical Communications technologies.

➕ Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, or other incident management platforms.
