Overview

Our client is seeking a Lab IT Support Engineer to support a large-scale Windows 11 upgrade initiative across Research & Development laboratories. This 6+ month contract will focus on upgrading instrument-connected laboratory computers while working closely with scientists, instrument vendors, and IT teams to ensure successful deployment with minimal disruption to laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Windows 11 upgrades on laboratory workstations and instrument-connected PCs.
  • Coordinate upgrade activities with instrument vendors, both onsite and remotely.
  • Follow vendor installation procedures to restore instrument software and connectivity after upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot Windows, hardware, software, and network connectivity issues during deployment.
  • Partner with scientists to support post-upgrade validation and resolve technical issues.
  • Document upgrade activities and escalate issues as needed.
  • Ensure laboratory systems are returned to operational status quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 in enterprise or laboratory environments.
  • Hands-on experience with instrument-connected PCs or scientific laboratory systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows OS, hardware, software, Active Directory, and basic networking.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with scientists, vendors, and IT teams.
  • Onsite requirement 5 days/week in Cambridge, MA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting laboratory environments in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences organizations.
  • Familiarity with scientific instrumentation and vendor-supported software (e.g., Agilent, Waters, Illumina).
  • Experience working in GxP-regulated environments.
