JOB TITLE: Business Analyst, Accounts Receivable

POSITION STATUS: Temporary

DEPARTMENT: Finance

LOCATION: Montreal

We are seeking a Business Analyst with strong expertise in Accounting and Accounts Receivable to support the design and implementation of a new reservation system. This role will act as the bridge between Finance, Operations, IT, and project stakeholders to ensure the new system supports accurate billing, customer account management, revenue recognition inputs, cash application, reconciliation, reporting, and internal control requirements. The ideal candidate combines solid business analysis capabilities with hands-on knowledge of receivables processes, accounting impacts, and system implementation projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements related to accounting, invoicing, customer billing, refunds, adjustments, collections, and accounts receivable processes within the reservation system.
  • Analyze current-state workflows and define future-state processes that improve operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and customer experience.
  • Work closely with Finance teams to ensure proper treatment of receivables, payment allocation, credit balances, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional requirements, process maps, user stories, business rules, and test scenarios for system configuration and development teams.
  • Partner with IT, vendors, product owners, and project managers to ensure accounting and AR requirements are built into the reservation system design.
  • Identify risks, control gaps, and compliance considerations related to billing accuracy, cash application, revenue flows, and financial reporting.
  • Lead or support user acceptance testing by defining test cases, validating expected results, and coordinating issue resolution with stakeholders.
  • Assist with data mapping, data validation, and migration activities related to customer accounts, invoices, open balances, payment history, and transaction records.
  • Prepare process documentation, training materials, and stakeholder communications to support change management and successful system adoption.
  • Provide post-implementation support to resolve process issues, monitor outcomes, and recommend continuous improvements.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, finance transformation, or system implementation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes with specific expertise in Accounts Receivable, billing, collections, cash application, and reconciliations.
  • Experience working on reservation, order management, billing, ERP, or other transaction-based systems.
  • Proven ability to document requirements, facilitate workshops, map business processes, and support system testing.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, data quality, and the downstream accounting impacts of operational transactions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain business and financial requirements clearly to technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in travel, hospitality, transportation, or other industries using complex reservation or booking systems.
  • Knowledge of payment processing, chargebacks, refunds, credits, and customer account lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms, system integrations, and reporting environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation or digital modernization projects.
  • Professional certification such as CBAP, PMP, CPA, or equivalent is an asset.
