Data Center Operations EngineerOverviewThe Data Center Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day engineering operations of a mission-critical data center environment. This role focuses on maintaining the reliability, performance, and efficiency of facility infrastructure while ensuring operational excellence through preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, asset management, and continuous improvement initiatives.Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate on-site activities of technicians, contractors, and third-party vendors, ensuring all work is performed safely and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical facility infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and operational reliability.
- Establish operational performance benchmarks, analyze key metrics, and prepare reports related to facility operations and maintenance activities.
- Partner with IT teams, facilities management, and business stakeholders to coordinate projects, manage capacity requirements, and improve overall facility performance.
- Support the operation of critical systems including:• Electrical switchgear
- Generators
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
- Power distribution equipment
- Chillers and cooling systems
- Cooling towers
- Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs)
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Environmental monitoring systems
- Participate in emergency response procedures and support incident management activities.
- Contribute to facility expansion, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Manage facility assets, inventory, and documentation.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and training initiatives as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure internal stakeholder requirements are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Facilities Management, or a related technical field; OR equivalent military, trade school, or hands-on technical experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in data center operations, facilities maintenance, critical environments, or related technical fields.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting data center operations, critical facilities, or industrial infrastructure environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Basic understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and environmental monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure and structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber installations.
- Familiarity with rack-and-stack activities, equipment deployment, and hardware installation.
- Experience working with maintenance management systems, monitoring tools, or building automation systems.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Andrews, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
