Accountabilities The Engineering Manager will lead the technical direction, team development, and delivery of payment integration solutions, ensuring systems remain scalable, secure, and reliable while supporting global business needs.
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance development.
- Define and drive the technical strategy for payment integrations, APIs, and backend systems.
- Own architectural decisions related to integration patterns, microservices, event-driven systems, and payment infrastructure.
- Guide engineers through complex technical challenges and provide hands-on support when needed.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices around API design, testing, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Backend, Payments, and other cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Ensure systems are scalable, resilient, well-documented, and capable of supporting enterprise-level transaction volumes.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, technical planning, and engineering decision-making.
- Improve engineering processes by introducing effective agile practices and delivery frameworks.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development practices, including automated testing, code generation, and LLM-based engineering workflows.
- Support the team in building secure payment solutions that meet reliability and compliance expectations.
- Act as a technical leader who balances business priorities, engineering quality, and long-term platform evolution.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with strong backend development expertise, payment infrastructure knowledge, and the ability to build and scale distributed engineering teams.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to make architectural decisions and prioritize competing initiatives.
- Experience working in payments, fintech, financial infrastructure, or teams responsible for payment integrations.
- Deep understanding of payment systems, including PSP integrations, transaction flows, network tokens, routing, and optimization strategies.
- Strong backend engineering background with experience in Java, Golang, Kotlin, or similar programming languages.
- Solid knowledge of microservices architectures, APIs, event-driven systems, and integration design patterns.
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of secure software development practices and OWASP principles.
- Experience establishing standards for AI-assisted software development, automated testing, and LLM-powered engineering workflows.
- Experience delivering software in agile environments with a pragmatic approach to processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency required.
- Strong ownership mindset, problem-solving ability, and passion for building reliable systems at scale.
