Full description

As a member of the GWAM Data Engineering team within the Global Wealth and Asset Management division, the Senior Data Analyst role is responsible for working with the Data Management and Delivery team, as well as other project teams, to ensure the data components of solutions provide the appropriate value to the business users and are aligned with the organization’s Information Management Program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver flexible, reusable and well-maintained core data repositories
  • Use accelerated delivery methodologies to ensure data initiatives provide timely business value
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the Investment domain, as well as expertise in accessing, querying, testing and validating data content to drive quality and consistency within solutions
  • Partner with the Data Governance group to establish appropriate standards and methodologies, template and tools related to documenting, analyzing and testing data - work with management to implement these standards within the IS and Data Governance organizations
  • Developing templates and methodologies to ensure data requirements are accurately and completely captured and can be effectively communicated to other data stakeholders, including Business Users, Business Architects, Business Analysts, Solutions Architects, Solutions Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Data Governance and Data Management Staff
  • Ensuring the proposed technical solutions effectively meet the business need
  • Conducting data profiling to analyze quality of incoming data and advising on any data cleansing rules
  • Assisting in the creation of business glossaries (data dictionaries)
  • Collaborating with the QA group to develop methods to test data components
  • Evaluating existing and proposed data models and how to best access and query them
  • Evaluating existing and proposed data interfaces and how to clearly document them, including specification of data flow models, data flow timing, source-to-target mapping, and data  transformation rules including data validations and controls
  • Keeping current on evolving Investment business knowledge domains to accurately assess the quality of the data
  • Providing guidance to project teams via peer reviews

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years related experience in working with Investment domain data and Data Management solutions
  • Experience with data-centric projects delivering the following (within a capital markets or investment banking domain):  Master data management, Data integration, Data warehousing and reporting. Big Data environment for analytics
  • Significant experience in major trading platforms, book of record systems, performance management platforms, such as Bloomberg Polar Lake, SimCorp Dimension, Findur, Apex, Eagle, Charles River, Sylvan, Calypso
  • Experience delivering data documentation artifacts in organizations of similar size and complexity within project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced writing complex SQL queries to analyze data and provide results to business users or project team members
  • Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written form at various levels within the project teams
  • Strong work ethic, results oriented, and accuracy / attention to detail are critical
  • Demonstrated initiative, able to work both independently and as a team member
  • Able to clearly communicate complex methodologies and approaches to stakeholders, peers and management
  • Able to work in agile or scrum delivery environments
  • Good understanding of techniques and tools pertaining to the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of technology solutions
  • exposure to Azure

Salary range is expected to be between

$113,000.00 CAD - $163,000.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
