Mid/Senior PHP Developer

Our client is an expert at providing market access and creating liquidity in the dynamic, yet illiquid, environmental commodities markets. Trading in a wide variety of sustainable energy products and certificates enables other businesses to drastically reduce their carbon footprint. In doing so, they contribute to a more transparent environmental commodities market and, therefore, a greener world. They offer solutions within the following markets: Renewable Energy Certificates, Carbon, Energy Efficiency Certificates, Biomethane, Biofuels.

Companies technology team builds in-house trading systems software that enables the business to meet Client demand in the markets. All projects you will work on will be directly used by trading, risk, mid-office and other client's teams so you can expect an intensely collaborative environment, smart and driven collaborators, short feedback loops, and a singular focus on achieving best-in-class execution.

The Challenge

We are looking for a proactive, analytical and ambitious Mid/Senior PHP Developer. You will work in a cross-location team based in Kaunas and Spain, with direct collaboration with our client team in the Netherlands. Your expertise will help drive the team to the next level, which requires strong communication skills, a team player attitude and a willingness to share knowledge and best practices.

What We Expect

• Strong experience with Laravel 10/11 and comfortable working with older Laravel 8/9 codebases
• In-depth knowledge of PHP 8.3+
• Excellent SQL skills across MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Fluency in Git version control and GitHub PR workflow
• Experience with Kafka and Avro schemas — producers, consumers, and Schema Registry
• Confident working with Jira
• Familiarity with CI/CD compliance tools (PHPStan, PHPCS, PHPUnit, ESLint)
• Experience with Docker
• Solid understanding of application lifecycle — migrations, deploys and rollbacks
• Experience with unit and integration testing, including Test-Driven Development
• Experience writing applications compatible with common logging interfaces
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) as part of daily workflow — writing effective prompts, reviewing model output and validating generated diffs
• Positive attitude toward feature flags and incremental rollouts

Would be a plus

• Experience with version upgrade
• Have a basic understanding of Kubernetes
• Have a good grip on monetary standards
• Know what is the essence of trading or have experience in developing trading systems
• Databases of interest are Postgres, MSSQL, Redis for caching
• You are familiar with AWS (ECR, S3)

The gross salary in this position is 3800-4800 EUR/month. Keep in mind that we are open to discussing a different salary based on your skills and competencies.
