Hybrid working:
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver scalable, high-quality application solutions that support critical business functions and client outcomes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into effective solutions.
- Design and develop secure, resilient, and maintainable applications that meet performance and reliability expectations.
- Build seamless integrations between business services and applications to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Contribute to solution design and architectural decisions that support long-term scalability and sustainability.
- Identify and implement opportunities for intelligent automation and AI-enabled innovation within application landscapes.
- Drive code quality through peer reviews, testing, continuous improvement, and adherence to engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure timely resolution while minimising business impact.
- Produce clear technical documentation that supports knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and future-ready capability development across teams.
Required Skill and Experience
- Extensive experience in Java (21/25 preferred) development, delivering scalable, high-performance, and secure enterprise applications.
- Proven expertise in Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and Microservices Architecture, with a strong track record of designing and implementing modern cloud-native solutions.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, design patterns, object-oriented programming, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and developing API-first architectures, integration solutions, and event-driven applications.
- Solid knowledge of integration patterns, data transformation pipelines, messaging frameworks, and asynchronous processing.
- Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, build tools such as Maven and Gradle, and automated testing frameworks.
- Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployment within cloud-native environments.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including performance optimization and scalability considerations.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across distributed environments.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Highly Desirable Skills
- Experience with AI-assisted software development tools, code generation platforms, and emerging Agentic AI technologies.
- Exposure to building or integrating AI-enabled applications, Large Language Models (LLMs), and intelligent automation solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including cloud-native application deployment and management.
- Knowledge of event-streaming and messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
- Understanding of observability, monitoring, logging, and performance management tools.
- Experience implementing DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and deployment automation.
