POSITION: Financial Analyst

Heelstone Renewable Energy is a utility-scale solar, wind, and storage developer headquartered in Durham, NC, with expertise in developing, originating, financing, constructing, and operating solar photovoltaic, wind, and storage projects. Heelstone’s strategy includes greenfield development, co-development, and acquisitions of later-stage projects. POSITION SUMMARY

Heelstone is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst who will provide support in all aspects of renewable energy and corporate finance activities, including M&A, underwriting, raising and structuring project debt and tax equity, and revenue contract origination. The role will work directly with leading industry participants, including developers, financing partners, and investment banks. This is a full-time position located in Durham, NC.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain financial models using complex capital structures for underwriting and transactions
  • Assist in screening, structuring, and pricing acquisitions and project bids
  • Prepare analyses for investment committee approvals
  • Support raising and structuring debt, equity and tax equity for utility-scale solar projects
  • Support origination of revenue contracts and related analysis to inform pricing and structuring
  • Assist in structuring and pricing project divestitures
  • Assist in due diligence of greenfield development opportunities
  • Understand historical data sets through publicly available energy pricing to form forward views on pricing and other market dynamics
  • Assist with market research, analytics, and financial modeling
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Excellent financial modeling skills, including high proficiency with Excel
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and attention to detail
  • Self-starter who operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment
  • Strong sense of accountability
  • Strong organization and management skills
  • Ability to prioritize concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

 

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a similar discipline
  • 2-3 years of work experience in banking or a similar industry a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Background in renewable finance, investment banking, private equity or leveraged finance
