Information Security Engineer Intern

Reports to: Information Security Engineer

Location: Amsterdam (Role requires you to be in the office twice a week)

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 32 hours per week over 4 or 5 days per week

About the Role:

We're looking for an Information Security Engineer Intern to join our team for 6 months in our Amsterdam office. This role is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic security environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering & Tooling Support: Assist the security engineering team in maintaining our core defense stack. This includes managing and fine-tuning alerts within MDR Tools (Managed Detection and Response) and monitoring DNS Provider security events to protect our edge.

• Multi-Cloud Security Monitoring: Actively monitor security alerts and health across our multi-cloud environment, spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will help ensure our "cloud fortress" is airtight.

• Documentation: Assist in creating and updating technical playbooks, network diagrams, and engineering standards.

• Phishing Simulation & Awareness: Take the lead on executing our simulated phishing campaigns. You’ll help design realistic scenarios, analyze "click rates," and help educate our employees on how to spot the latest social engineering tactics.

• Security Research: Conduct research on emerging threats and technologies to help keep our defenses one step ahead of attackers.

The Ideal Candidate

• Educational Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related technical field.

• Security Passion: A deep, demonstrable interest in the technical side of cybersecurity (e.g., CTFs, Home Lab projects, or security certifications).

• Technical Foundations: An understanding of networking (TCP/IP), operating systems (MacOS/Windows), and cloud fundamentals.

• Coding Basics: Basic proficiency in at least one scripting language (Powershell/Bash is a major plus).

• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to "think like an attacker" to build better defenses.

• Communication: Excellent English speaking and writing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Adaptability: The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and pivot quickly when priorities shift.
