Primary Responsibilities

The Transportation Systems Analyst supports Transportation Operations by maintaining reliable technology that improves workflow, visibility, and execution. Manhattan Active Transportation Management is the primary TMS, with Manhattan Modeler used to evaluate routing and planning scenarios. The role also supports FourKites, PCS, Samsara, and the NTS/AS400 legacy environment. The analyst troubleshoots issues, validates changes, supports testing and implementations, documents standard work, trains users, and recommends sustainable system and process improvements. Essential Functions

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports day-to-day Transportation system operations, user access, configuration, and issue resolution, with Manhattan Active Transportation Management serving as the primary TMS.
  • Uses Manhattan Modeler to evaluate routing, planning, and optimization scenarios; maintains and validates related master data, business rules, system parameters, and configuration changes.
  • Monitors and reconciles data exchanges and workflows across Manhattan, FourKites, PCS, Samsara, and NTS/AS400; identifies interface failures, data gaps, and downstream impacts.
  • Investigates system incidents, performs root-cause analysis, documents corrective actions, and coordinates internal or vendor support tickets through resolution.
  • Captures business requirements and documents current-state and future-state workflows, functional requirements, process maps, data flows, and system SOPs.
  • Performs data validation, user acceptance, regression, and integration testing; supports implementation readiness, training, go-live, hypercare, and system adoption.
  • Analyzes route and system outputs using service, mileage, cube, asset utilization, and other key measures; develops reporting and recommends configuration or process improvements.
  • Serves as a liaison among Transportation Operations, Central Routing, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Care, Technology teams, vendors, and distribution centers.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems, preferably Manhattan Active Transportation Management, including configuration, planning, execution, and optimization concepts.
  • Ability to use Manhattan Modeler or comparable tools to evaluate routing and planning scenarios, manage master data, and validate results.
  • Working knowledge of systems design, data exchanges, interface monitoring, testing, and platforms such as FourKites, PCS, Samsara, and NTS/AS400.
  • Fundamental knowledge of inbound and outbound transportation, LTL, truckload, brokerage, intermodal, and dedicated fleet operations.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business scenarios into requirements, test cases, and sustainable solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with Power BI, SQL, or Access is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail, documentation quality, and timely follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across business, operational, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, systems support, business analysis, routing, or a related field required.
  • Experience with a Transportation Management System, system implementation, routing optimization, testing, or transportation data analysis is preferred; experience with the listed Transportation platforms is a plus.
