Business Function

The Release & Deployment Team is responsible for governing, coordinating, and executing approved production and non-production releases, ensuring all deployments are delivered securely, reliably, and in compliance with change governance, audit, security, and regulatory requirements. The team plays a critical role in maintaining production stability, minimizing implementation risks, and driving continuous improvements through automation and standardization.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end release and deployment lifecycle, including change review, planning, implementation, validation, reporting, and post-implementation support.
  • Review and validate Change Requests (CRs) to ensure implementation readiness, scope completeness, technical feasibility, risk assessment, rollback preparedness, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Coordinate with Application Support, Engineering, Infrastructure, Middleware, Database, Security, and Platform teams to resolve implementation dependencies and ensure successful change execution.
  • Execute production, pre-production, DR, and UAT deployments in accordance with approved implementation plans, ensuring no unauthorized changes or deviations during execution.
  • Perform application releases, middleware deployments, database script execution, configuration updates, platform changes, and privileged-access related implementations.
  • Ensure all deployment activities are executed within approved change windows and conform to security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage privileged access activities using CyberArk and PAM solutions, including password retrieval, privileged session management, secure credential handling, and compliance with session recording and evidence-retention standards.
  • Maintain segregation of duties and ensure deployment activities are performed only by authorized personnel.
  • Conduct technical validations post-deployment and coordinate business validation with application and business stakeholders to ensure successful implementation outcomes.
  • Capture and maintain deployment evidence, including execution logs, screenshots, session recordings, implementation reports, and audit artifacts.
  • Provide Level-1 operational support for release and deployment-related incidents, deployment failures, production issues, and recovery activities.
  • Participate in production war rooms, incident bridges, troubleshooting calls, and root cause investigations to restore services and improve operational resilience.
  • Escalate implementation risks, deployment issues, and production-impacting events promptly to Release Managers, SMEs, and leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement through deployment automation, process optimization, CI/CD adoption, runbook standardization, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Analyze release and change data to identify trends, improve release success rates, reduce deployment risks, and provide actionable recommendations for process enhancement.
  • Maintain deployment procedures, SOPs, knowledge repositories, and support cross-training initiatives to improve team capability, resiliency, and operational readiness.
  • Support a dynamic 24x7 operating environment and demonstrate strong ownership during critical production releases and emergency implementations.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of experience in Release Management, Production Support, Change Management, DevOps Operations, Production Operations, or IT Operations.
  • Experience in Banking or Financial Services environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in regulated production environments with strong governance, audit, risk, and security controls.
  • Strong understanding of release governance, production change management, deployment controls, and operational support processes.

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation in Linux administration with working knowledge of Unix and Windows platforms.
  • Experience supporting deployments across Production, Pre-Production, UAT, and Disaster Recovery environments.
  • Knowledge of application deployment processes, middleware platforms, environment management, and configuration management.
  • Basic understanding of Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL execution, validation, and database deployment concepts.
  • Experience with CyberArk, Privileged Access Management (PAM), password vaulting, and secure credential management practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, DevOps practices, release automation tools, OpenShift platforms, and modern deployment frameworks.
  • Understanding of ITIL, Change Management, Release Management, Governance Frameworks, and production operational controls.
  • Knowledge of platform maintenance, operating system patching, middleware upgrades, and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Core Competencies

  • Strong risk, control, and compliance mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure during high-risk and critical production releases.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, production stability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Release Management, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Support, and Business teams.
