About the role

Please note that this is a fixed-term role with an end date of 31 December 2027.

GBS Project Managers sit within the PMO team in Global Business Services. The team provides dedicated resources to work alongside the GBS strategic projects and programmes. As GBS embarks on implementing its Service Management Operating System, your role as a PM in this delivery programme will present an exciting opportunity to be involved in the delivery of a key workstream and how we transform our business.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operational and tactical delivery of assigned projects, including tracking progress, managing dependencies, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks, issues, and constraints (resource, time, and budget).
  • Manage project scope and stakeholder expectations, ensuring any changes are assessed for impact on cost, timeline, and resources, and appropriate approvals are obtained from sponsors.
  • Produce clear and timely project reporting, including progress updates, success metrics, and lessons learned, to ensure transparency and continuous improvement across the programme.
  • Plan, facilitate, and follow up on governance forums, including steering committees and RAID management, ensuring actions are tracked and delivered.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal programme team, external delivery partners and suppliers to drive successful project outcomes and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to the organisation’s Project Management Framework, standards, methodologies, and tools.
  • Define and maintain clarity of roles and responsibilities within the project team, including ownership models such as RACI.
  • Demonstrate strong and visible leadership, acting with integrity, transparency, and professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders and team members.
  • Set, manage, and continuously align project expectations while effectively delegating tasks and managing delivery across cross-functional teams.
  • Identify, manage, and resolve conflicts or competing priorities between individuals, teams, or stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with business stakeholders to support successful delivery and long-term engagement.

The experience we're looking for

  • Project delivery: Proven experience delivering complex projects end-to-end within agreed scope, time, cost, and quality constraints. Strong planning, execution, and coordination skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Project oversight: Demonstrated ability to manage risks, issues, dependencies, and governance within a structured environment. Experience applying project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches).
  • Stakeholder management: Ability to build trusted relationships, influence decision-making, and engage effectively at all levels. Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive alignment and outcomes. Understanding of IT&D landscape and ways of working.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences, including clear reporting and impactful presentations.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead without direct authority, motivate and inspire teams, and drive accountability across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, evaluate options, and make informed decisions.
  • Organisation & prioritisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and focus.
  • Supplier & partner management: Experience working with third-party suppliers or delivery partners, ensuring effective collaboration and holding partners accountable for delivery.
