Join Hitachi Energy and help shape the future power grid. MACH™ is our market-leading control and protection platform for power electronics applications, forming the foundation of HVDC, FACTS, and next-generation energy solutions.

As a Senior R&D Project Manager in Grid Integration MACH (GI MACH), you will lead strategically important product and technology development initiatives that shape the future of power systems. You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, FPGA, system engineering, and product management, leading globally distributed teams in a highly collaborative matrix organization. This role requires a unique combination of project leadership, systems thinking, technical understanding, and stakeholder management to successfully deliver complex R&D programs in a fast-changing technology environment.

What We Offer At Hitachi Energy, you'll have the opportunity to grow your career in a global organization while enjoying the benefits of a flexible and supportive work environment. We offer a collective agreement, flexible working arrangements with up to 49% remote work, a health and wellness allowance, career development opportunities, mentorship, and continuous learning. You'll be part of a diverse workplace with colleagues from more than 70 nationalities and have access to a wide range of employee benefits, discounts, and additional parental leave compensation.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead complex R&D product development projects with end-to-end accountability for scope, schedule, cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.
  • Build and lead multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams across the full product development lifecycle.
  • Develop realistic project plans, manage risks, dependencies, and changes, and drive corrective actions when needed.
  • Create alignment across product management, R&D, line management, quality, operations, and senior leadership to enable effective decision-making and execution.
  • Ensure effective integration between technical disciplines, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and removing barriers that impact delivery.
  • Drive proactive risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation management to address challenges before they affect project outcomes.
  • Translate complex technical topics into clear business-oriented recommendations and communicate project status, risks, and strategic decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within project teams and across the organization.

Your background

  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Project Management, Industrial Management, or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience leading R&D and product development projects in complex technology environments.
  • Proven ability to independently manage project planning, governance, risk management, and change control, while effectively engaging stakeholders, influencing decisions, and navigating complex organizational environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams, create engagement, communicate effectively, and deliver results through others.
  • Experience in HVDC, FACTS, power systems, industrial automation, embedded control systems, or similar technology domains is highly desirable.
  • A structured, proactive, and improvement-oriented approach; PMP, IPMA, or equivalent project management certification is considered a strong advantage.
