Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Electrical CAD Engineer - Data Center Infrastructure based in United States.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on the electrical design of mission-critical power and cooling infrastructure for modern data centers. You will own electrical CAD design integrity across concept development, new product introduction, production, and sustaining engineering. The role combines detailed schematic, panel layout, wiring, and power distribution design with strong configuration and lifecycle management. You will work closely with mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and PLM teams to ensure integrated and manufacturable solutions. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, multi-variant infrastructure products while maintaining high standards for safety, reliability, and compliance. You will also support engineering changes, production ramp-up, technical reviews, and continuous improvement as a senior individual contributor.

Accountabilities:

  • Independently develop and maintain detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and related documentation for complex industrial and infrastructure equipment.
  • Design power distribution, protection, grounding, and control circuits supporting mission-critical power and cooling platforms.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet functional performance, safety, reliability, serviceability, and customer requirements across applicable operating conditions.
  • Resolve electrical packaging and integration challenges in coordination with mechanical layouts, thermal constraints, and enclosure architectures.
  • Execute configuration-controlled electrical designs across multiple product variants, options, and regional configurations.
  • Maintain design stability, accuracy, and traceability as engineering changes are introduced throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement ECRs and ECNs efficiently while maintaining compliance, backward compatibility, and production continuity.
  • Keep schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and PLM records accurately synchronized.
  • Apply applicable IEC, UL, regional, and customer-specific electrical standards throughout the design process.
  • Use sound engineering judgment to address electrical safety, fault protection, arc mitigation, grounding, and clearance/creepage requirements.
  • Support internal and external compliance activities through accurate technical documentation and timely responses to design-related findings.
  • Develop detailed panel layouts with appropriate component placement, wire routing, labeling, mechanical fit, and thermal considerations.
  • Ensure wiring designs are manufacturable, accessible, serviceable, and clearly documented for production teams.
  • Support prototype builds, production ramp-up, and manufacturing issue resolution through design updates and technical clarification.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering to ensure electrical-mechanical fit, clearance, airflow, and thermal compatibility.
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and production teams to address build issues, component substitutions, and field or production feedback.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and release-readiness activities as a senior technical contributor.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of electrical CAD practices, documentation quality, and configuration discipline.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of hands-on electrical CAD design experience involving industrial, infrastructure-class, or similarly complex equipment.
  • Strong proficiency with one or more of EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, and Edge Electrical.
  • Demonstrated experience designing power distribution and control systems for complex, multi-variant products.
  • Working knowledge of IEC, UL, and regional electrical compliance requirements.
  • Ability to independently execute and take technical ownership of complex electrical designs with minimal oversight.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for power and cooling infrastructure, switchgear, transformers, busway, PDCs, CDUs, chillers, or other thermally intensive infrastructure is highly valuable.
  • Practical experience with switchgear, control panels, and industrial power systems.
  • Proven expertise in panel layout, wire routing, and electrical-mechanical integration.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and formal product release, configuration management, and engineering change-control processes.
  • Experience supporting both NPI and sustaining engineering within production environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, reliability, and compliance considerations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation discipline, particularly in fast-paced environments with frequent engineering changes.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across electrical, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly during design reviews and with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working as an independent technical owner without direct managerial responsibility.
  • Willingness to support occasional domestic and international travel, up to approximately 25%.

Benefits:

  • Base salary range of $100,100–$180,200, with the actual offer determined by qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, market data, and internal equity.
  • Eligibility for a short-term performance-based incentive.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Paid time off, accruing at 3.07 hours during the first year of employment.
  • Four weeks of paid parental leave.
  • 11 company-paid holidays in 2027, consisting of 9 fixed holidays and 2 optional floating holidays, subject to annual changes.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Employee stock purchase plan.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Opportunity to contribute to large-scale data center infrastructure projects spanning power distribution, controls, and advanced cooling technologies.
  • Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel, described as rare in the source posting.
