Responsibilities

Position Purpose: The QA Engineer is responsible for assuring the quality and stability of the Nexus Futures trading ecosystem, including order management, execution services, broker and exchange connectivity, and post-trade processing. The role delivers comprehensive test coverage across business initiatives and platform modernisation efforts through a combination of functional testing, automation, risk-based quality assurance, and release validation. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the QA Engineer helps ensure reliable, resilient, and scalable trading solutions that support StoneX's futures business and clients globally.

The team is actively investing in AI-assisted software delivery and quality engineering. The successful candidate will be encouraged to leverage AI tools to improve test design, automation development, defect analysis, documentation, and overall delivery efficiency, while maintaining appropriate governance and quality controls.

Testing is performed in both manual and automated fashion, but the team focuses on expanding the automated test suites. The projects you will be working on are mainly server-side.

Primary duties will include:

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Own test strategy, estimation, test planning and test execution for new features, enhancements, and production fixes.
  • Identify and prioritize test cases for automation, considering both functional and non-functional requirements and implementing the existing test automation frameworks for backend side of trade system in Specflow/ReqNRoll.
  • Test end-to-end trading flows across, execution services, FIX gateways, exchange/broker connectivity and downstream processing.
  • Analyse server and application logs, system data to isolate defects, support root-cause analysis and provide clear evidence to Engineering.
  • Analyse complex systems, spot trends, draw conclusions, and produce specifications and decisions.
  • Perform API, service, database and message-level testing using appropriate tools and SQL queries.
  • Assess release risk, define test exit criteria and provide clear QA recommendations for UAT, production deployment and operational readiness.
  • Managing the release deployment in various environments with cooperation with different teams.
  • Contribute actively to requirements refinement, Three Amigos discussions, sprint planning, defect triage, demonstrations and retrospectives.
  • Document test plans, test cases, and test results to facilitate communication and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Improve QA practices through peer review, reusable test assets, knowledge sharing and measurable reduction of manual regression effort.

Qualifications

To Land this role you will need:

  • Strong professional experience testing complex trading, financial, transactional or other high-integrity backend systems.
  • Hands-on experience of manual functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Confident API and backend-service testing, with the ability to validate requests, responses, events and persisted data.
  • Basic SQL skills for data interrogation, reconciliation and test-evidence preparation.
  • Experience diagnosing issues through application logs, service behaviour, databases and message flows.
  • Practical automation experience using C# or a comparable language to extend the existing test framework.
  • Experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines and test execution within build and deployment tooling.
  • Ability to translate requirements and business workflows into clear, risk-based test coverage and traceable evidence.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Experience taking testing from requirements analysis through QA sign-off, UAT support and production release.

  • Exchange-traded derivatives, particularly US Futures.
  • Electronic order entry, order management or execution management systems.
  • FIX protocol, including session behaviour and execution-report-based order lifecycles.
  • High-throughput or low-latency distributed systems and asynchronous messaging technologies.
  • Operational resilience, failover, disaster recovery and controlled production releases.
  • Experience with tools or technologies such as Postman, Swagger, SQL Server, Kafka, Kubernetes, Rancher, TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus, Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience evaluating and adopting emerging QA technologies, including AI-assisted test generation, intelligent test selection, automated defect analysis, synthetic test data generation, and quality analytics.
  • Keen interest in understanding the distributed architecture

Education / Certification Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • ISTQB or relevant testing certification is advantageous but not essential.

Working environment:

  • 4 days in office per week
