Why This Role Matters
Embedded insurance is sold inside someone else's product, to a buyer who did not come looking for insurance. That puts unusual weight on the material behind the sale. Our sales, partner, and marketing teams need competitive context specific to the industry they are selling into, insurance product comparisons that hold up when a partner’s own risk or finance team reads them, playbooks, and answers to the objections that come up in every deal. As we build more experience in an industry, that material has to get deeper and more specific, because we are talking to people who already know the category well.
What You'll Do
Market and Competitive Intelligence
- Own competitive reviews by vertical, covering both embedded providers and the traditional alternatives buyers use today
- Build insurance product comparisons at the coverage, structure, and economics level that hold up when a buyer's own risk or finance team reads them
- Run win/loss review and feed what you learn back into the product roadmap
Positioning and Messaging
- Develop buyer and partner personas for each vertical and channel
- Build and maintain a messaging house per vertical, with value propositions tied to actual product capability and variations for platform partner, client, and end customer audiences
- Give Marketing a documented source of messaging and value propositions, at enough depth to support long-form and technical content
Sales Enablement and Training
- Write sales playbooks, narratives, and talk tracks by vertical and by channel
- Build objection handling and FAQ material covering the questions that come up in every deal
- Produce feature and product value briefs, sales presentations, and the training that goes with them
Partner and Channel Enablement
- Produce the source material our partner marketing team uses to build external-facing assets: product detail, positioning, value narratives, and competitive context
- Write value realization narratives for partner and client marketing programs
- Support channel-specific launches as we add new ways to reach buyers inside a vertical
Launch Management
- Own launch plans for new products, channels, and verticals, and run the launch calendar across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams
- Document what worked and apply it to the next launch
Who You Are
- 7+ years in B2B product marketing, with time at both the specialist and senior individual contributor level
- Deep sales enablement experience: playbooks, talk tracks, objection handling, battle cards, and the training to make them stick
- Demonstrated competitive intelligence work, including primary research, win/loss analysis, and comparison material used by sales and channel partners
- Track record building positioning and messaging by persona and by industry, not one message for all buyers
- Experience taking a complex or technical product and translating it into language buyers and internal teams understand
- Comfortable working directly with product managers and engineers through a product lifecycle process rather than receiving finished features
- Strong writer. Most of what this role produces is written, and it has to be accurate before it is polished
- Self-directed. This is the first dedicated product marketing role at Vertical Insure, and you will build the function's structure as you go
Experience That Goes the Extra Mile
- Vertical SaaS, insurtech, embedded insurance, embedded finance, or fintech experience
- Channel or partner-led go-to-market, where a third party sells or explains your product to their own customers
- Pragmatic Institute training, Product Marketing Alliance certification, or equivalent formal product marketing grounding
- Hands-on experience with a sales enablement platform (Seismic, Highspot, or similar), including administration
- Experience supporting an industry-specific or vertical-specific go-to-market program
